Belly3528th Annual Chicago Blues Festival
Love Chicago ... so many things to do and see and the wife can shop Mich. Ave, take in a Broadway show, visit the arts and history museum go to the beach and you can get one of the best Cornbeef sandwich in the world at "Eleven".. -
Scarlet_BuckeyeDo yourself a favor and head up North in Michigan. It's BEAUTIFUL!
From Traverse City through the Torch Lake area, through Charlevoix through Petosky through Harbor Springs are all at about 20 minutes from one another that are all well worth the stops.

(National Geographic has deemed Torch Lake the "third most beautiful Lake in the world" and it truly is a sight to behold with it's Caribbean blue crystal CLEAR water)

Mackinaw is a really nice place....probably about 8-9hrs from Cincy though.Ironman92;793079 wrote:I've not been there and can't even spell it...but I've heard many good things about Mackinaw Island.
Virginia Beach? -
bigdaddy2003Yeah, Mackinaw is 4 hours into Michigan if I am not mistaken. So with the time it takes to get through Ohio from the bottom plus that you are looking at 8 hours.
-
Belly35Mackinaw is a wonderful place to relax , enjoy art, good food and enjoy the company you're with but it is a long drive...
-
dont_belongMackinaw City and on into the UP are awesome...but a little more than 6 hours.
I would vote for Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, go rafting, catch a Tennesse Smokies game, hike in the mountains, visit the artisans community on Glades Rd.... -
JerseyBuckI'd say make a trip up to Ocean City, NJ but that's probably a good 10 hours or so away from Cincinnati. Sandusky and the Lake Erie Islands are always fun. Traverse City, Mackinac Island, though both are probably out of the 6 hour drive.
-
slcoachI would recommend Nashville. Great live music, good eats, and a fairly easy drive from Cincy.
-
Ironman92My bad on Mackinaw...my teacher friend thinks it's the best place in the world...I thought it was closer...my bad.

I really didn't care where we went so I just told her to make a decision. Bonus, my best friend lives in Chicago. -
Gardens35Youngstown. Sit in on a trial.

Was it the 28th Annual Chicago Blues Festival or the cornbeef sandwich at "Eleven"?justincredible;793349 wrote:It looks like we are going to Chicago.
I think not sure but it could be the Slutwalk also this weekend... -

The place we stay at has very nice and cozy log cabins that are very clean and modern, back deck with hot tub overlooking the woods. Only has 3 cabins on about 40 acres and surrounded by a state forest. There are a lot of hiking trials and sightseeing areas if you like the outdoors. Great place to get away from the daily grind of work.

I second this post... GREAT place to unwind. This place is the outdoors at its best and without major congestion. Make sure you locate the "old man's face" at old mans cave and highly recommend a dip in the ALWAYS very cold, but also crystal clear waterfall basin at Ash Cave. -
passwordOld mans cave is interesting. We have visited ash cave a view times, it is a spectactular sight. They even offer story telling around a camp fire in the basin at night for the kids. Kids love ghost stories when out in the wilderness.

sonofsamHocking Hills had so much to offer that I could not get to everything i wanted to do in a week's vacation. I am looking forward to going back.
-
passwordGreat place. You can just relax or you could stay busy enjoying the outdoor activites in the area all day long.

^^^ Yup. -
bigkahunaMackinaw City/Mackinac Island are about 5 hours away from my house, and I'm just north of Toledo, which is about 4 hours away from Cincinnati.
Mackinaw City/Traverse City are out of the question, because you're looking at 9-10 hours.
Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge is always a great place to unwind
Chicago will be good though. -
