Ok, I can't take it anymore.....

I love me some Zeppelin, and other 70's rock, but as I sit here, Stairway to Heaven comes on the radio. This song has terrible music, very simple at best, and the singing is atrocius. This has got to be one of the worst....songs.....ever. Hell, even "Friday" is better than this. OK, end rant, and let the hate begin.......

There ARE songs by LZ that I find the vocals....let's just say not that great, but stairway isn't one of them.

Zeppelin is WAY OVER PLAYED and WAY considered and EAR SORE. If you are a Zeppelin fanatic then good for you, but I'd rather listen to paint dry on a cold nasty winter day.

A lot of what people consider "classic" rock is pretty terrible if I look at it the same way I do new releases. Only thing that makes a lot of it even remotely worth it is nostalgia.

...I've always been a fan of Zep but there are times when I just can't listen to them (prolly because I've heard it all sooooo many times). I love classic 70's rock & was remembering back that 38 years ago today I went to....if anyone is old enough to remember it "Cloverleaf Raceway" near Cleveland and saw Deep Purple. Deep Purple is one of those classic 70's bands that I feel never got the acclaim they were do and prolly should be in the R & R HOF.

I loved Zeppelin when I was in high school (not altogether an uncommon thing). But part of that is because I followed the herd a bit. Now twenty five years later, I don't consider myself a fan. Their music is fine, if a bit repetitive and simple. I know all about the supposed blues orgin of it. But it's really just formulaic guitar riffs with Plant's high pitched wail. Way overrated.
  • Fab4Runner
Big fan of some of their songs but some also suck. I feel the same about pretty much every band. There are a few bands that I absolutely hate but most of the time I can find a few good songs from each.

Or just about every single artist from the 60s and 70s...or about any other generation, for that matter.
dwccrew;792889 wrote:I find this thread to be blasphemous.

Indeed it is. I will concede that there are a certain handful of Zeppelin songs that I find myself occasionally skipping when playing the CD because I've heard them roughly 1,583,348,347,393,293 times on the radio, but I don't look at many of them as being bad. Just that I'm tired of hearing them and need a break. That happens with any popular artist. Due to how often their singles are played, I tend to avoid those songs even if I like them.

Oh, and Sonofanump, that's a damn fine list. I'd reorder a lot of the songs to suit my personal preference (like raising Caroselambra and Out on the Tiles), but I applaud you for creating it!

All My Love is top 5 LZ for me. We almost used it as our first dance song at our wedding, even though it's about a dead kid.

My first dance song at my wedding was Thank You. With the way things turned out, I have to say that Sonofanump gave it WAY too much credit at 63/73. Maybe 666/73.

I'm already thinking of songs I would put on before D Maker. Depending on my mood, I could put it as high as #5.
