Sister Wives and polygamy
-
WebFireMy wife loves watching Sister Wives, and she hates when I comment on it.
But seriously, this show bugs the hell out of me. 1st of all, Kody just seems like a guy that needs his ego stroked.
2nd, why they hell do they have such a need to be "accepted"? It's like they just can't be happy until people accept polygamy. I say who gives a shit. Live your life like every other person does, and don't worry about whether you are a polygamist or not. Nobody would probably give 2 shits about it.
3rd, why do these "special interest" groups alway expect everyone else to change their rules/laws/thoughts when THEY are the exception. Last I checked, it's against the law, and they knew that from the beginning. Yet they whine when they are being investigated after doing a cable tv show! Also, I think I can say with confidence that most people think this is not normal. So why push your thoughts on the majority? And lastly, how can you be a Christian and think polygamy is ok?
Oh, and one more thing, how can a guy have 4 wives, and only one is semi-hot, and not want to spend all his time with that one?
Anyway, if anyone watched this show, what are your thoughts. Or what are your thoughts about polygamy in general? -

As long as we're talking about consenting adult human beings, I have no idea why the government should have any interest in how many, what gender, etc. or in marriage in general. -
Fab4RunnerTheir family does not bother me at all. They seem like kind, hardworking people and their kids also seem happy. If that lifestyle works for them I say go for it.

thavoiceIt just seems wrong to me.
Also..why in hte hell would anyone want more than one wife?
Nagging coming from 2, 3 or 4 or more women......ugh. -

I guess that's why it seems to me that the marketplace can decide the issue without the aid of government. One is plenty for me as well. -

And I don't disagree. But they worry way too much about being accepted by people that probably wouldn't have even known if they didn't tell them. They started right off in their new neighborhood by making it a point to tell everyone. -

Maybe she's a bitch, or sucks in bed? -

The people themselves don't bother me. Which is why it bugs me so much that they are so worried about what people think. Just live your life and don't make it a point to tell everyone. Most people probably don't care. -

Then why bring her in when you already have 3 wives? -

Amen. There's no reason to require State sanctioned marriage.queencitybuckeye;792005 wrote:As long as we're talking about consenting adult human beings, I have no idea why the government should have any interest in... marriage in general. -

Because she was hot apparently. -
vball10setthe only thing that bothers me--isn't polygamy illegal?

I know many won't agree with me, but the reason government SHOULD BE CONCERNED is to protect the innocent. What about children who are born into these families, etc. Adults having fun and running around making up their own rules cause psychological and emotional issues for the future generations! -
Cat Food Flambe'Four women, each with their own kid, living in the same house? Can you imagine the drama?

I'll read anything you can cite to support that opinion. -
LJA major issue is that in many of these polygamist families, the wives will not put a name for the father on the birth cert and collect gov't aid for the children.

I believe that in this case Kody is only legally married to his first wife. It is still illegal to live the way they were, though. I haven't been keeping up with this season but I think that's the reason they decided to move.vball10set;792036 wrote:the only thing that bothers me--isn't polygamy illegal? -
4cards...my brother is on his 4th marriage. If he would have done with this dude did, he would have only had to get married once, had 4 wives and saved a lot of money getting rid of the first 3 x wives!

For some reason the saying 'those who do not learn from history are bound to repeat it' comes to mind in that instance.
I can see maybe two marriages, I think after that I wold say fuck it. -
Thread BomberAm a peice o shit and cant do anything right x 4. Yep, sounds about right.

power iThe only thing that bugs me about the show and the family in general is that they go on a tv show that's all about their ILLEGAL lifestyle then act so shocked when the local law decides to investigate them. Their oldest kids are teenagers, so obviously the law left them alone until they decided to go on national television and raise the question 'why isn't the law doing anything about this?'
So is it anymore legal to have multiple wives in Vegas than it is in Utah?
