X-Men: First Class
-
bigdaddy2003I am skeptical about it because I generally hate when they change the origin but it looks good enough to go see so I am game.

Cool. -
hoops23I think it looks terrible.
Green Lantern look horrendous.
Ryan Reynolds was good as Deadpool imo, but his character was weak in Wolverine...
Deadpool likely won't get a movie because Marvel doesn't want a Rated R movie lol. -
Laley23My buddy worked on this movie in the post production special effects. Said it is a pretty good film, but not as good as 1 or 2, but way better than 3 and Wolverine.
He also worked on Soul Surfur, which he told me to never see lol. Said in Helen Hunts contract they had to touch her up in every frame she was in. Took him 6 weeks haha.
Either way, Id like to see First Class, and for my friends sake, I hope it is very successful. -

Ha thats pretty cool. I thought X2 could have been pretty good but I found it very boring. When I go see a super hero comic book movie I want to see some action and it didn't deliver at all. X3 delivered it, but it was still terrible. Hopefully this movie can straddle the line successfully.Laley23;787308 wrote:My buddy worked on this movie in the post production special effects. SportsAndLadySaw this tonight..not bad. About what you'd expect from an X-men movie.

Yeah, it could have been a lot better but they chose a weak selection of X-Men characters besides Beast. -
like_thatJust got back. I thought it was pretty good. Wolverine's short cameo was hilarious. The sequel will definitely have a lot more action. This movie was all about character development, and they did a great job. It wasn't too bad looking at January Jones as well.

They did a great job with explaining the story and the character development was great as you said, I thought the lead acting was excellent as well. -
bigdaddy2003Are you guys big comic book fans? I figured someone other than me would complain about how weak of a crew they picked.
-
pmoney25What cast would you have picked?
Obviously Professor and Magneto had to be in it. Beast was a good choice. I thought having Emma Frost in it is fantastic as she in the comics is one of the more powerful Mutants plus one of the better characters in my opinion. They couldnt have put in some of the more famous ones( Cyclops, Colossus, Storm etc.. because they weren't around yet.)
I think having Mystique in it will help because people remember her from the first series and I think having Sebastian Shaw as the bad guy is good to
I have not seen the movie but based off the premise, I am not sure what other X Men you could have wanted in here -

My thoughts exactly. Bigdaddy, what other characters do you think they should have used? -
Scarlet_BuckeyeI saw it Friday night. While good, I was disappointed. Best part(s) of the movie by far were Wolverine's cameo and when Magneto tells Mystique "I prefer your older/grown up look" and she phases into Rebecca Romijn. I thought that was very clever.
Couple things I didn't like...
1) Emma Frost is supposed to be one of the most attractive Mugabe, if not THE most attractive. The girl who played the part was attractive, but I'd say far from "smoking hot.". In fact, the chick who played Mystique was 10x better looking.
2) The character selection was VERY weak. I loved Sebastian Shaw, Emma Frost, and obviously Magneto and Charles Xavier, but other than that, I think they really dropped the ball.
Riptide? Dumb.
Azazel? Pretty cool, but he wasn't even part of the Hellfire Club! Where was Harry Leland, Donald Pierce and Tessa?
Angel Salvador was THE dumbest selection of them all. What a complete waste of a role. Awful.
Banshee was a pretty random character to have.
How do you have Alex Summers before you have Scott Summers?! Alex is the LITTLE brother!
And whoever played Magneto when he was younger might have single-handedly given THE worst acting performance I have ever seen. That was god awful. It was so horrendous that I almost started laughing. I understand he's just a boy, but god that was awful. I don't know how you can have a major blockbuster like this and cast someone who was that poor. I understand it was a minor role, but they really should have result that scene with a new actor. He was just terrible.
The good things...
Well, it was an X-Men movie and any time you have that, I guess that is a positive in and of itself.
I thought they did an excellent job with Magneto. The guy who played Xavier wasn't too bad either. Kevin Bacon was AWESOME as Shaw. He proved he can still act.
No way can Shaw be dead. Too big of a character and too powerful to go out like that. I hope to see him later again in another X-Men movie. -

No fucking way to the bolded part. As for Alex Summers, I was thinking the same thing, but the movie obviously isn't following the comics 100% o the script. That Darwin mutant who adapted to survive, he was introduced as an X-Men character just 5 years ago (wikipedia search). -

was going to say the same thing, mystique had a chubby face -

I havent seen the movie, so I dont know what they looked like. But, typically speaking, January Jones is very attractive. Maybe not smoking, per se, but well....damn close.
Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique) is really not as well, but I would take January Jones (Emma Frost) over her. -

They made a weak selection of X-Men characters. What do you mean Cyclops wasn't around yet? He was one of the original members. -
bigdaddy2003They picked a weak selection of X-Men characters. Scarlet Buckeye laid out the examples but I will reiterate a few. Banshee and Darwin are bad characters and Angel was horrible. Beast was the best character of the X-Men that they picked. As for the villains I thought Kevin Bacon did a great job as Sebastian Shaw and I also really liked Emma Frost. Azazel was a cool touch simply because he is Nightcrawler's father.
Oh and pmoney what do you mean Cyclops wasn't around back then? He was one of the original members. -

You guys are crazy. The chick who played Mystique was easily 10x hotter than the chick who played Emma Frost. January Jones looked good, but something about her face looks "crunched."

The CGI for Angel was HORRID... her mutation, IMO, is weak... it was just hands down [one of] THE dumbest characterthey could have chosen. -

I know that. Again I haven't seen the movie but I am under the impression that this is a Prequel to the X Men Movies. In the movies Cyclops was probably in his 30s and this movie takes place mostly in early 60's which wouldn't be possible.
But then again having Alex Summers in there wouldn't make sense either, so I will give you that one. If this movie is meant to be totally separate from the X Men 1-3 then probably could have added a couple cooler characters. -
