estimates are always good that way you know how much its gonna cost. I would reccomend getting a few and turning them in prolly give you a better idea of what its gonna cost anyways.

I just covered my roof with a tarp over the leak. They didnt want to climb on the roof so they just approved the new roof.

Be careful making unnecessary claims as well. You don't want to make claims unless you really need to. A $500 claim isn't worth the potential premium increase. Claims also make it hard to get insurance later if needed.

call your insurance company and ask them, you jackass

Maybe he thought the insurance company would want a professional to do it, but he was hoping someone here knew how to get around that so he could pocket the extra cash? Sheesh...

Do you have any experience roofing a house?

Plenty. I've done plenty in my days. Tear-off, replaced sheeting, etc. Used to do it with a hammer.

I got what you were trying to do. Just don't think your insurance is going to cover it.

With my insurance company, Nationwide, they said OK, it will take this amount of labor hours and material costs and figured it up and cut me a check for that amount. Then it was up to me to find someone to do it. They didn't even need a quote before cutting the check. They made out the check for like $5,200 I believe, and it costs $4,400 to actually have it done.

If you just purchased the house and the bad roof was not disclosed, you may have a claim against the seller. Did you buy the house with a homeowners warranty?

Oh yeah.... You're a dumn ass.
