Yeah I know, the horse is being tortured because they are working to hard. Some of these horses are in great physical/muscular shape, I'd be willing to bet back in the sub-modern days when horses were the only means of transportation the thought would be different. In these modern days things are looked on much differently. -

Ummm, no, someone who knows what they're talking about can spot a lame horse from a mile away. -
The BossSpeaking of horses...

Not all of them.
For the most part Amish take care of their horses, but not all, equally as well as most people care of their cars. -
The BossMy car doesn't feel pain. And yes, I care more about horses than Amish people.

Pain and hard work is how I keep in shape.
I care for animals as well, but not over a human being. -
The BossPain is not how a 1,200 pound animal standing on 4 toothpicks stays in shape. The Amish aren't human beings, they're less than that.

I guess that takes horse racing out of the equation.
Your second part of your post reiterates your idiocracy. -

Out of what equation?
And I think the word you're looking for is idiocy, smart guy. -

Dude, the Amish DO NOT take good care of their horses. They overwork a bunch of lame underfed skinny horses. A horse being lame isn't just "pain is weakness leaving the body" kind of thing, it is a serious health issue. Horse trainers will not race a horse that is lame. I see more lame horses during a weekend in Amish country than I have in 26 years of showing horses. The few friends I know who are vets in Amish country say that the horses up there are in the worst shape they have ever seen. -

And my experiences have come from different areas of the country and it seems to be the same everywhere. Can't stand them. I'm not really a fan of any extremely religious group and they're about as extreme as it gets. Most of my experiences have come from having to work with them on construction projects or whatever, they're bullshit.
Have you ever stopped to think that if it happens everywhere that you work with the Amish that perhaps it's not them that are rude or unfriendly? If not, perhaps you should ponder that a while. -

I agree that some are are scum and have no care at all for their horses but to suggest that all Amish horses are treated the same is not a fair statement.
I have 37 years of first hand experience with the Amish, just a bit more time than a weekend trip or second hand info from your vet friends. -

My vet friends provide medical treatment to these horses every day. I think they would know. They don't care about their horses, all they care about are their cows.
I think your opinion of proper care and treatment of horses is skewed due to your experience only being with the Amish. They don't take good care of their horses, and that is a fact. -

Of course they don't. They're only selling them to McDonalds when they die. -

No, I'm nice to everyone until I have a reason not to be. I didn't have a single bad thing to say about the Amish until I spent some time around them. -

How can they care more for their cows when the majority of them don't farm anymore?
Stating that all Amish treat their horses like shit is not valid. That is like saying everyone that lives in the hood is a crack head.
It seems you've been skewed as well. -
