I am a subscriber to this rag. It is now 9:00 am and my newspaper has not been delivered. The complaint lines are busy, so I posted a redeliver notice via their website.

Are any other subscribers still waiting for delivery???

Your paper guy just had a long night.

If time is of the essence when it comes to getting your news, why do you rely on a newspaper (aka yesterday's news)?

This was why I gave up my subscription to The Canton Suppository. Their delivery people...well...at least mine..was just horrible. 14 or 15 year old girl. I subscribed for 3 months...and out of all those papers in 3 months..I'd say 1/3 of them were unreadable b/c she'd throw them on the porch without plastic while it was raining, or if it had rained..she's manage to find the only puddle of water that was on my porch. Would call them and bitch..no difference. So I canceled.

Take it from someone who used to work on their sports desk: that place is a circus!

The Disgrace is horrid anymore. I cancelled them about a year ago due to the same thing you mentioned, not getting here until 11am.

I used to get just the weekend papers. Just for the ads. Some kid came to my door to get me to sign up so he could "have a better life and go to college" or whatever. I bought it, and signed up for weekends only. I cancelled the next day. They kept delivering the papers to my apartment so I went online to try to cancel the service. I guess you can only "suspend" the delivery online...not cancel.

I think I still owe them like $9 or so...

My local paper always gets the paper to my box at a reasonable time.
The mail delivery is something else. Generally I don't get my mail until around 2:30ish. Around Christmas, as late as 5pm.

My mail doesn't get here until about 4 p.m. But..they have a much broader route than a paperboy.

My parents went from every day to only weekends to not at all. If they want the newspaper they'll go buy one from the store.

I finally received my paper at 11:00 am. No apology, no reason, no service.

I once carried papers for this rag and Sunday delivery was 7:00am--no excuses.Customer service is no longer a priority.

Cancel the paper, you can read all you want for free on the internet.

I'm not a subscriber, so I know what you mean.

Yeah, I'm not going to pay to waste paper and have it delivered at their convenient to the end of my driveway where I then have to walk out in the rain and cold to get it. I'll just get in their website for free at my convenience and stay in the warmth of my own home. Thank you for putting all of your content online for free.

I don't think it is whining to expect a company to deliver their product, that has been paid for in advance, in a timely manner.

An apology is warranted if they don't fulfill their obligation.

I was a paper boy for the Dispatch for 7 years. I was up every morning at 6:00 AM to deliver the paper, and the route only took about 20 minutes. There were a couple neighbors that if they didn't have their paper by 6:30, they would be calling our house. I didn't mind it, as they were accustomed to it at a certain time, and they paid for that service.

However, there were times when the Dispatch would deliver the papers to the wrong address or would be delayed in their printing and I would have to wait up to an hour to get the papers so I could deliver them.

But, several years ago they got rid of the kids, and wanted adults. I think when they did that people were less patient and wanted a more reliable deliverer.

When I carried service was the mantra of The Columbus Dispatch. My job, according to my manager, was to deliver a pristine paper to the customer's requested location in a timely manner. If I failed to do that I heard from my manager and it was my responsibility to apologize to the customer.

If I were a paper company I would make my hard copy subscribers #1... they are falling fast.
