This. My brother claims in his town it was 4.19 when he got home from work at 6:30 a.m then 4.15 when he went to pick up his kids at 3 and then 4.08 when he took his middle kid to her piano lessons. Sounds great but we shall see.

oil barrels went down 8.6% today, to just under $100/barrel. Gas in Fl. went up a penny. Thats always the way...they jack it up before the ticker is off the screen but it takes 2-3 days to drop a nickel.

I made a ton of money today shorting oil.

Has gas ever come down? Get used to it.

The only way gas prices will ever come down is if the government steps in and puts an end to it. Just think, right now Saudi Arabia is paying $0.91,and Kuwait is paying $0.78. At those prices I could get a full tank of gas for about 8 bucks. Then again if you live in Caracas, you are getting gas for $0.12 a gallon. Pretty much a full tank under 5 bucks no matter what you drive. Maybe our government should look at these places and see whats different? Then again maybe they should look at our own oil companies and send in Seal Team 6.

I remember when gas hit 3 bucks a gallon and I was freaking out... Right now I'd love to see it drop back down to 3 bucks.

Goldeman Sachs came out with a statement last week that said the fundamentals to support continuing oil price rises weren't there. Even with prices coming down, if you can't afford the current prices, you need to make moves that will decrease your dependence on gasoline at the earliest convienience. Prices will spike again with a long term continuing trend upward. You have been warned. Again.

Yes...? Do you remember when the bottom fell out of the economy a few years ago and gas got down to about $1.50?

even though oil is going down (because there has been less demand by the consumer), there isnt a guarantee the gas will directly correlate.

I hope not. As much as I hate high gas prices, we seriously need them in this country. Americans have an extremely short focus, if gas drops down nationwide around $3/gallon or lower, the progress of electric vehicles will be ruined. Then, when gas shoots up again in a year or less, we will be even further behind.

I dont see it happening any time soon.

I refuse to drive an electric powered mustang... long live the gas guzzlers!!! BTW, nice screen name Buck Swoop.

I want a Tesla. No way I can afford their model S but if demand for EVs holds up, hopefully their next model will be in my price range. Sad to say, without being forced via high prices, this country wouldn't do anything to get off of the gas kick.

So will you admit that it really wasn't Bush and his oil buddies gouging the American consumer? Or are you just holding back criticism of the worst president in a decade.

Uh, I don't think they'll have to look too hard to figure out the difference between Saudi Arabia/Kuwait and the US.

Gas is also MUCH cheaper in other countries that make way less per person than the U.S. as well.

Gas is cheaper in other countries that (1) produce more oil per capita and (2) heavily subsidize it. We can't do much about (1), other than drilling more locally, but that isn't likely to solve the long term problems. Re (2), we could do that, but it would send the wrong signals to the market, exacerbating the long term problem. It would also be massively expensive.

The other day I was in Portland Indiana and gas was $4.29 a gallon. Today it was $4.27. So yes, the price went down. :D (I have not seen any prices in Ohio go down yet.)

Everywhere around me has dropped around $.10 at most.

I mean, what do you want them to do, take a giant loss on gas they paid for?

As long as Bush and Cheney walk this earth gas prices will not be going down.
  • se-alum
Stronger commodity exchange regulations are what we need. Wall Street controls gas prices, and until they are forced to change the way they do things, this problem will continue.

    LOL. OK!!

As long as the Dems have their heads up the EPA's ass, gas will continue to rise.

I usually ignore your ramblings....but this one is just so stupid. If I were to translate..you think Bush was better than Obama. Worst president in a decade is the dumbest thing I have ever read. So in the last ten years, he is the worst....or ....he is the worst of this decade. I agree, he is the worst president we have had this decade.
