Do you see the irony in this by spelling Jon like an idiot?

I didn't make the list but out of my 20 nieces and nephews, 5 did make it. My son, Parker, didn't make the list either. I wanted to name him Kade but was vetoed. I also like the name Aiden, as it is my favorite Gaelic name but it's pretty popular now.

Remember that when you sign the birth certificate.

Good to see my name broke the top 10! :)

Fab, some friends of ours named their daughter Aidan like 20 years ago....very unusal for the times, but I like it very much.

Yeah I have actually considered using it for a girl since I love it so much. My mom hates it! lol

I'm #3 on the male list. Our dog is #7 for females.

There's a saying I read in a baby book this year (incidentally my wife and I just had a baby on 4/18): parents want their kid's name to stand out, while kids just want to fit in. I really liked that saying. That being said, names like Aiden, Kayden, Jayden, Jaylen, Braden, etc. will be just as common in the future as names like John or Mike would be for adults today. You probably would have your child's name stand out more by naming him something common like John or Mike.

Btw, my name is #8. It is an oldie but a goodie and has remained in the top 10 for over a century. We named my son Charles (we call him Charlie).

I'm nowhere near any of the names on the list and my kids (if I have any) are not either (except a middle name) which are Addison Jacob (A.J.) for boy and Laykin Laurie Ann for girl.

I looked through the archives and Jacob has been the #1 name since 1999 for males. Holy shit people, think of some new names. I always wanted to name a son Jacob, but now I am going to have to think of something less common like William or Daniel.

My name has never popped up on these lists.

Mine is sorta #1 (Jake). Honestly, I've only known one Jacob in 24 years and he's my age. I've always been very surprised by that name's popularity year after year.

Your age likely missed the rush of Jacobs, but there are a lot of little Jacobs 10 and under running around right now. My 11 year old has several in his class at school and there are a bunch of litle Jacobs living in the neighborhood.

If those are the names that you're planning on, I hope you're sterile.

Also, a rule on spelling. If you try to text the kid's name and the phone tries to autocorrect but has no idea what to change it to, you have officially failed in every way.

My wife has wanted to name a daughter Isabella since she was that age as well, because it was an uncommon name and it was Italian. She was beside herself when I pointed out that it's now hugely popular because of a shitty series of books.

My sister just named her boy: Ayden Thomas. I really like the name.

I think I know at least 10 Jacobs (or Jakes). I am surprised you've only known one.

Yeah it sucks! It also sucks that there is a typo in my original post you quoted (was instead of when) and even if I change it in mine it will still be in yours lol.

Part of me says fuck it...if you really love the name just use it. But then part of me doesn't want there to be 50 of them in the same class/group of friends.

Please don't do that to your kids. Naming your son Addison reminds me of the Johnny Cash hit, "Boy Named Sue".
