that would be the right thing for charles to do, but i don't think charles would abdicate the throne. he seems like he wants it too much.LJ;754225 wrote:Rumor is that they may skip charles -

It might also be due to the fact that Camilla would never be crowned Queen, as the law stands right now. She might get the title, but not be crowned. I think that I read somewhere that she might also be Duchess of Cornwall forever and never get the title.UANyg;754236 wrote:that would be the right thing for charles to do, but i don't think charles would abdicate the throne. he seems like he wants it too much.

Con_AlmaOnly blood lines are crowned. It's why the Queen's husband is not King.
Charles can become King followed by his first born son. Their respective spouses will never be queen. -
justincredibleWhat happens if the blood line ends?

I don't remember. I think it goes back up and horizontal. There's an explanation out there that you can refer to.
http://www.fact-index.com/l/li/list_of_succession_to_the_british_throne.html
"...The line of succession for the British monarchy is determined by primogeniture, whereby the eldest son of the incumbent inherits the throne, the line of succession then follows the descendants of the person in line before going on to consider their siblings. Sons are always considered before daughters, but daughters are included in the succession.
However, under law, the succession in the United Kingdom is not automatic. The Act of Settlement of (1701) specifies that the throne passes to the Heir of the Body (i.e., natural and not adopted children) of Electress Sophia of Hanover, provided that they are not Catholic and did not marry a Catholic. The latter two provisions have never been invoked to prevent someone from succeeding to the throne, and there is doubt regarding their validity under treaties which the United Kingdom has signed regarding religious discrimination. ..." -

Technically wives of Kings are queens, they are the queen consort. They do receive the title though, while they do not hold any power. Not sure if Camilla would receive the title though, like bhsfan said, as she is charles' second wife. I would think she would, though.
EDIT: After looking it up, Camilla is legally the Princess of Wales, however does not use that title as it is strongly associated with Diana. Legally when Charles is crowned King, she will be the Queen Consort, however is expected to use the title Princess Consort. -
