Card Games

I love pretty much all card games. One that I've found not too many play and especially people around my age(I'm 24) is Canasta. My favorite is probably Euchre though I used to spend hours playing that haha. I remember once in high school at a track meet I missed a race because of an intense game of euchre.

I love playing Euchre! Learned it at Buckeye Boys state back in hs and then started playing with the family. When I was in Europe last, was playing it on a train with some Aussies and they showed me a game like Euchre but you use way more cards (4-ace maybe?) and you bid on it like in bid Euchre. Awesome time.

My family plays Euchre. It gets extremely loud and serious and sometimes can lead to fights that last for several days or weeks. We play pretty traditional, no partners best or what not. If you win a best of five you get the imaginary "belt" which requires you to snatch it off the persons waist which usually is quite comical as my brothers usually will try to tackle you if you try to touch them.

Back in the day we used to play some spades. Hearts was outlawed many years ago due to hard feelings when you give someone the queen of spades.
Recently at my GF house i have been introduced to two new games. Up and Down the river and Bid Euchre. I like up and down the river more, but need some more practice. I prefer regular Euchre over Bid Euchre but maybe after i get better at bidding i will enjoy it more. Anybody ever played these games?

Your family sounds like a bunch of babies.

In Tusc Co many people play "Yoss". Not sure of this spelling, but it appears to be a regionalized game. Anyone ever heard of the drinking game "Ducky Fuzz"?

nah just very competitive. and if my dad is your partner you basically are screwed no matter what card you play especially when my mom is his partner. its ok for him to lead trump when he has only one but god forbid anyone else do it lol...really the only fight that lasted weeks was when i came home from college after joining a frat and my dad accused me of learning how to stack the deck! but when my bros get liquored up they def will wrestle in the house. good times

I'd never play Euchre for money, way to easy to cheat.

Yep. Usually play that when we get together to play cards every week.

Boo Ray (sp?) can get pretty pricey really quickly also. We'd start out with each putting $1 in for the ante and pots have gotten up over $100.

This guy. Makes it a little more interesting. Highest stakes I've played is 20/10 and that was only because I was up $30 already.

The one game I could never learn or even start to like was Bridge.

We had a guy A high A low. 6 cards left. Got another ace. Double pot. Didn't have it. Never been allowed to play with us again.
