American Idol- 4/13

Little DannyThe theme of the evening was "Songs from Cinema". I must say, I was disappointed in just about every one's performance. For the most part, nobody made the songs their own and just sang their song just as a slightly worse version of the orginal. The judges have even bought into the act. Seriously guys, if you are not going to critique anyone's performance and just tell everyone how great they are, why even have judges in the first place? Just let the performers play.
Paul McDonald sung "Old Time Rock and Roll".... bleh, he sung it no better than a cover band at any dive bar in Ohio.
Lauren song her a little Miley Cyrus..... she sang it well, but offered nothing new to it.
Stephano sung "End of the Road" by Boyz II Men.... even though J-Lo was impressed, I wasn't. Really wished Simon was there to tell Stephano it was the "End of the Road" for him and pack his bags.
Scotty predictibly sung a little George Strait.... again, sung well, nothing new. That being said, he will have a long career in country music.
Haley sung the classic Blondie hit, "Call Me"..... this is an iconic song and really is a tough act to follow. That being said, Haley is so damn sexy. She was dressed to impress tonight.
Jacob Lusk performed "Bridge Over Troubled Waters"... as always a great vocal. His style of music is not my bag, but I can't deny his talent.
Then..... James Durbin with the huge save. Sammy Hagar's Call It Heavy Metal.... Durbin either should have been born 25 years earlier or quite possibly he will bring the heavy metal genre back to main stream.

se-alumHeavy metal will never be mainstream.

Belly35My bottom three ......
Paul ....... getting really old ... can dress you up in a crazy suit but you're still a Rod Steward wanna be
Haley ..... just a bad song, she can do better ... keep her another week
Casey ..... grinding and grawling ... no thanks ... I saw this same show at a high school talent night -
Little DannyI forgot all about Casey in my OP. He is really beginning to annoy me. I am really tired of his "I am an artist" schtick. I could have heard his performance tonight at any coffee house around campus.
-
THE4RINGZDuring the performance by Casey all I wanted was a Manhattan in a Smokey bar and to grab a stewardess' ass.
James was the big winner tonight. Scotty was #2 everyone else I won't miss. -
HitsRusI agree with the assessment that it was a somewhat weak nite...especially when compared to last week's performances.
Paul...B- ...a mess a s usual but in comparison to the rest he was ok.
Lauren Alaina..B-....sleepy and somewhat resembled a tornado siren
Stephano... B+...not quite a home run but a solid hit amidst a bunch of strike outs.
Scotty...B-...his worst performance to date.
Casey...B...,would have been pretty cool if he wasn't so pitchy.
Haley...B-...pitchy but entertaining.
Jacob... B...best vocalist remaining hits all the right notes but puts eveyone to sleep.
James ...B+...heavy metal out of the mainstream...but it was pretty fair.
A lot deserve to go after mediocre performances.
My bottom 3 predictions
Paul...IDK...somebody must like him.....but not me.
Haley...after hitting 2 home runs the past two weeks...a weak ground out
Casey...I liked it...but did anyone else?
going home....Paul.
I'm going to start grading the judges too
steven...C...c'mon dude...isn't there anyone you don't like?
JLO...C...same comment.
Randy...C... really? Haley was the ONLY one you could criticize?
AS bad as the singing was, the 'judging' was worse. -
Little Danny^^^ These judges would be giving props to Sangaya and Tim Urban.
Like I said in my OP, why have judges if they are just going to come out and tell everyone how great they are? -
HitsRus^^^ really...there was very little to be excited about tonite.
-
WebFireI didn't know anyone watched this show now that Pia is gone.

Webbie, we disagree on a lot of topics, but I'm with you 100% on this one--well done -
ManO'WarI just tuned in to see the brief Pia flashbacks.
-
HitsRusPia....Oh, waaah. No doubt she was offed prematurely. She was the best vocalist and she is something to look at....but she didn't bring much to the competition from a performance standpoint. Jacob Lusk is almost as good as a vocalist, and he moves his fat ass around the stage better than she did. He just doesn't excite post pubescent males.

Jacob? Are you serious? I guess if you are into church choirs he is good. -

I know what you're trying to say, but does anyone else think this sounds just a little bit creepy?HitsRus;741298 wrote: Jacob Lusk is almost as good as a vocalist, and he moves his fat ass around the stage better than she did. He just doesn't excite post pubescent males. -

I don't think it sounds creepy. I think every contestant has a pocket of die hard fans who keeps ringing up votes for them. I honestly think that is why Paul is still around. There is a group of Phish fans who have internet access and they blast voters for him. We alomost all agree he has been the weakest performer for the past several weeks, but keeps coming back. And yes I believe the demographic proves itself accurate, that tween and teenage girls probably launch the most votes. Ergo Stephano and Lauren still being around. I think those voters see them as current pop stars and want to see them continue to perform weekly. Along thos same lines, every country music fan which watches the show votes for Scotty. Tonight's cut will be interesting. The voters this year seem fickle. Case in point, Casey. He gets the judges save and has never been in the bottom three since then? Seriously. Tonight will reveal the sham that using that save really was. The turd Casey laid on stage last night should sent him straight home, but it won't which leads me to reiterate my point, that the save bullshit was just drama used to create ratings.vball10set;741347 wrote:I know what you're trying to say, but does anyone else think this sounds just a little bit creepy?
Yeah I know I am rambling like a lunatic conspiracy theorist, but I want to say my piece before heading out the door. -
vball10setit was a tongue-in-cheek comment, Ringz...good god man!!!
-
bigdaddy2003Whether Jacob has the best voice left or not doesn't change the fact that he sounds strange and just all around bothers the hell out of me.
-
HitsRus...and the bottom three are....
Haley, Paul and Stephano
Paul goes home in a classy exit, singing Maggie May. -
GoPensCan't argue with the bottom 3 and with Paul leaving. His voice was annoying.
Stephano is like a guy with his head in a guillotine. Just wondering when the ax is going to fall.... -
THE4RINGZGlad Haley is sticking around. She is easy on the eyes.
-
HitsRus^^^can't disagree there.
my predicted order of exit
Stephano
Haley
Casey
Lauren
Jacob
Finals will be Scotty and James....too close to call.
I have a hard time reading the support for Jacob and Casey. Alot of people dislike them for one reason or another....and a lot of people really like them too. Not much in the middle ground, which doesn't matter early on, but as the list gets pared down they will have trouble picking up additional support. -
bigdaddy2003I thought Scotty was good this week. The one thing I can't stand about him is the way he holds the mic.
-
THE4RINGZPlease send Casey or Jacob home next week America. Please?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
