Anyone ever had to deal with a sociopath?
-
UA5straightin2008if so, what did you do?
my roommate is displaying many characteristics of a sociopath. i have caught him red handed stealing my stuff yet he still denies or tries to claim that i'm insane for accusing him (he has two prior arrests for stealing), he tries to guilt me and manipulate me into doing things, shows no sign of guilt or remorse when accused of stealing things just puts the blame on other people (aka me)...its getting to the point where its driving me crazy and i dont know what to do. I was home over the weekend and brought a trunk back to school with a lock on it and i have put quite a bit of my stuff in their and i keep all my valuable (keys/wallet/computer/ipod) in my backpack which is with me almost all times of the day. anyone have a similar experience with a person like this and how did you go about handling it? -

The EqualizerAre you bigger than him?

THE4RINGZMy ex-wife is certifiably crazy. So, yes.
-
UA5straightin2008yes i am bigger than him, but no i will not fight him..here at school one fight and your kicked out..hes not worth it...and seeing as im trying to go to medical school, getting suspended for fighting likely wouldnt help my chances of getting in

I take it you're in a dorm? Change rooms -
justincredibleMy advice was going to be kick his ass, Seabass, but I see that's not an option. I guess telling res life about it would be a good start.

yes, i am really considering it, but am sort of afraid of him manipulating others to believe that I am "the crazy one" here
I really wish there was a way to really expose him...none of my other roommates have caught him red handed stealing their stuff like I have, even though they have had stuff gone missing...they agree there is something wrong with this kid but they just accept it and since they dont have the proof i have they cant really be pissed at him -
Mohican00Not trying to be a dick but are you more afraid of what others think or getting your shit stolen?

true true i guess at this point youre right i would rather not have my shit stolen, i just want people to see what this piece of shit is really like behind the "superficial charm" he displays in public (a characteristic of a sociopath) -

Denison forces you guys to live in the dorm? -
UA5straightin2008yeah it sucks pretty bad...freshman year you live in a double, sophomore year most live in a double, most juniors live in 4 man or 6 man suites (i live in a 6 man with 4 rooms and a bathroom), and seniors can live in the "apartments" which are basically dorms (you still have an RA) with a kitchen, 2 bathrooms, and 4 bedrooms for 4 people...and you can bet your ass I am not living with this kid next year

like_thatThat does suck. Do you have a webcam? Ever thought of setting that up, and recording his activity?

He'd probably take the camera or computer lol
I would just switch rooms. And if you have hard, factual proof of him stealing, take it to the honor board or whoever. -

Buy a computer lock... http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=computer+lock&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8#client=safari&rls=en&q=computer+lock&oe=UTF-8&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbo=u&tbs=shop:1&source=og&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wf&biw=1100&bih=686&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=2c1304d622775efd
Come one if something like a computer is missing, it is pretty obvious who did it by then. -
dokkenHow did a guy with two prior arrests get into Denison?
-
stroupsWhat kind of stuff is this guy stealing? Gatorade out of the fridge, annoying but not a big deal. Money out of your wallet, punched in the face.
-
UA5straightin2008pretty sure he ended up getting out of both, one was for shoplifting when he was in high school (since he was a minor, the punishment was most likely lightened and/or the lawyer got him out of it) and the other was last summer in which i think he just had to pay a fine
