Living situation...alone vs. roommates

  • Automatik
I'm at a point where I need to start looking into future living situations. I currently live with a friend who I met through another friend. We are going out separate ways at the end of the agreement.

I need to figure out if I want to find another roommate or live solo. I've wanted to live alone since my last few years of undergrad, but either lease agreements or financial reasons prevented this.

I guess my question is has anyone ever went the solo route and then regretted it?

Living alone will be significantly higher in cost and space, but I can handle both. I don't have any potential roommates lined up and I'm not going the random route. Everyone I know here is in a lease and I highly doubt I can recruit any friends in Ohio to move. I just don't want to get into a solo lease and regret it or end up on a veryyyy slim budget. That would suck bad.

Unless it is a FWB then I would recommend alone.

Scratch that....even if ya have FB she (or he, not that there is anything wrong with that.....hell..who am I kidding...yes there is) should live elsewhere.

    Go it alone dude.

i like living alone. i can have my place the way i want and not worry about anyone else screwing it up. its nice have the extra money from a roommate, but then you have that extra possible bs when your roommate doesnt give you the money on time or something.

I would live alone, just for the sake of anyone who would actually consider living with you.

I did it for a year and liked it

Need a roommate? I'm hopefully about to accept a job in Manhattan soon...too expensive to live alone

I loved living alone when I had an apartment downtown. I'd definitely go that route.

    lmao...look who shows up....AGAIN!

btw....I'm an excellent roommate. I've lived with bastards before....it sucks.

    S&L...where in Manhattan?

With a roommate would be for mainly for space reasons. Alone would most likely be in a studio.....a fucking small one.

I live alone, but would take in a roommate if I could find one. It's not that I can't comfortably afford my place, but more money to travel and do some other things I want to do would be nice.

Try living alone. Once you do, you will never look back. Until you meet that perfect someone.

    Alone.

Roommates always interrupt me <s>hooking up with girls</s> masturbating.

Having watched the drama unfold around my kids and some of their friends, I wold strongly recommend going it alone. You are assuming a roommate will actually help pay the expenses.

You have a better chance of getting Katy Perry as a roommate than that of finding a roommate ol-line who isn't a slob, a stoner, a slacker, or psychotic. :)

I'm not really worried about a roomie paying.....I'm not going the random route anyway. Living in NYC its pretty much an understanding that you are gonna pay out the ass for rent. Most land lords won't allow an agreement without proof of employment.

Your down to the Pope and Mother Teresa if those are all ruled out.

    Exactly. :)

I'm not so sure about the Pope's housekeeping habits, either...

I like having a roommate because he is my best friend, but even then we have our moments where he annoys the fuck out of me and I annoy/piss him off.

I have a friend that came to Kent for graduate school (got her undergraduate at Marietta) and she hates living alone because she really doesnt have any friends up here. I think I'd enjoy living alone though.

I think I'd love it. I live with a girl now, and although we get along great and shes clean....we don't have much in common. She does her thing and I do mine.....but I do enjoy when she is gone for the weekend or whatever and I got the pad to myself.

I have a few friends in Ohio that "talk" about moving here.....but thats all it is.
