Rodney Atkins - A Sham?
-
rydawg5I remember about 10 years ago hearing from this guy. It was a nice little song (not very country) but a fine song called "Honesty"
He dissappears... then reappears about 5 years later with many hits. The only problem is, it sounds like a new singer.. a much worse singer.. somehow it works but its a sham to me.
He now semi-speaks, semi-sings every song (America, Cleanin my Gun, I've been watching you, Farmer's daughter..etc.) He sound exactly the same.
How can one change so much?
Then

Was it all just some shtick? Just wonderin.. -
THE4RINGZI do like his music, I guess I never thought about his musical rebirth. But you do have a valid point.

OSHI liked "Honesty," but haven't really liked much after that.
To me, he's just another guy who has those gimmicky songs (like Brad Paisley and Toby Keith both do now). They all had very good albums when they first came into the country music scene, then evolved into gimmicky musicians with songs that are popular for about a month or so. Think of Toby's classics, they are good and when they come on the radio, it's nice. Same goes for Brad, for me. Their new stuff, turn the station (or channel) just like I do when most women country singers come on. -

A retarded 5 year old could write a Brad Paisley song
His next hits
"Crayon"
"This is recess"
"Fruit punch box"
"Sand" -

Lately though I won't lie he's gotten a little too chart friendly. Anything like me was good though -

Toby Keith passed the torch to Brad Paisley for the cheesy song category, however, Toby was much more popular when he was singing retarded songs.Classyposter58;724462 wrote:Lately though I won't lie he's gotten a little too chart friendly. Anything like me was good though -

They are both the same to me these days. I could care less of what they release. It's almost guaranteed not to be good. Trace Adkins can be thrown in this list too. Trace's best songs are the ones that do not hit the radio, like "Arlington." -

This is what I have been thinking about a lot. People who write their own stuff. It'd be great if more would do that.
But, then I think of Finding Forrester, "Writers write so readers can read."
