  Yes, I "Tweet". I post scores/updates from games I attend as well as scores/updates I receive from others via text. I have people subscribed to me that receive texts when I Tweet, so I try to keep my tweets limited and to normal hours of the day. I have 40 followers.

  @(user name). Just put that in your tweet. It shows up on their end as being mentioned, then they can reply to it if they want.
