khujoLeave yourself plenty of time to get to where you are going. The highways around downtown, make it pretty much the worst city to get around if you are unfamiliar with the area.
-
thavoiceCheck out Primanti Brothers..there are a few.
I like Rolands Fish Market in the strip district.
QSL for wings.....Delucca's for breakfast. Ffew of those places were highlighted on food or travel networks.
THere is this place in McKee's rock...20 bucks to get in....think you buy your first draft beer then get refills....it is one of those adult ballet's.
There is a casino by Heinz field. No table tho.
We took a tour of Heinz field once....was pretty cool. Had been there 15-20 times before that but touring it was really cool..got to see stuff never realized or had time to before a game. -
AutomatikDO NOT drive during either rush hour.
-
CenterBHSFanEntering Pitt. is easier than leaving. The dumbass planners have the lane signs stuck up in the girders of the bridge and you can't see what lane you're supposed to be in until your practically underneath them. Just go fast and be daring!
-
CinciX12When you leave they are going to merge 2 lanes on the freeway and if you are not aggressive you will get run over. If you are aggressive, someone will still probably run you over. That being said, awesome city. One of my favorite downtowns by far. Considering moving/living there.
-
End of LineTry to avoid rush hour on the parkway.
-
rock_knutneMonday rush hour isn't too bad at 5PM, rough but it gets worse as the week goes on.
Food wise, depends on what you want but I would suggest the Doublewide Grill in the South Side, reasonable prices and the food is good, they use a wood fired oven/grill. There's also a huge variety of bars and restaurants in the South Side, good place to hang out after the event and you can walk from bar to bar. If you want to stay close to the Consol Energy Center, there's a place called the Souper Bowl right behind CEC on 5th Ave, tons of peple hang out there before Penguin games, full bar, good food and the prices are reasonable. Of course, as thavoice said, Primanti Brothers in the Strip District is a legendary favorite.
Have fun! -
EnforcerWe are going up Sunday and leaving Tuesday, So We are hoping to miss the traffic, Also our Hotel is pretty close to the arena. I guess I should have mentioned that We will have our Younger Daughters with us on the trip , So the Bars are out. And YES I know keep My girls away from Big Ben!!!
-
EnforcerAlso , As a true Browns Fan I will be Reppin My Browns Hat!
-
CinciX12While I love the city, you may be provoking insults you do not want your daughters to hear lol. You'll love the AFC champion banners lining the streets though.
-
EnforcerAnyone ever been to the Zoo in Pitt.?
-
THE4RINGZI ate Primanti's tonight (Grove City) $2 tall IC's until 7:00. Good deal.
If you are planning on drinking beer in your hotel room, buy your beer in Ohio or WV. Buying carry out beer in PA is a huge pain in the ass. -
cat_loverPittsburgh Science Center is near Heinz Field. The kids would like this place. Duquesne Incline is another attraction around the Science Center,Heinz Field area. There is a very nice restaurant at the top of the Duquesne Incline called The Lamont. It has a spectacular view of Downtown but it is top dollar and might not be a place to take kids.

...Your taking your younger daughters to Monday Night Raw and you won't take your daughters to bars? I thought drinking, yelling profanities, and being packed in arena to watch wrestling all went together.Enforcer;699812 wrote:We are going up Sunday and leaving Tuesday, So We are hoping to miss the traffic, Also our Hotel is pretty close to the arena. Is that new? I went a few times that first year but didnt make it to pittsburgh all football season as I was out of the region.
Rolands fish market in the strip district is good....have had anything from a blakc and blue burger to seafood there and it was good.
Remember a place called D'blasio's (or Deblagio's) in Green tree....pretty good as well.
Def bring kids to top of the incline -

DeBlasio's on Cochran Road is the BOMB! Veal and pepper sandwich is to die for!
BTW, also in the strip, Benkovitz's fish market is way better. -

Nakama Japanese Steak House and Sushi Bar in the South Side, best in the city IMO. -
Enforcer4Cards , I think theres a Huge Difference in taking them to Raw and taking them to a BAR! When You watch Raw You see all kinds of Younger Kids in the Crowd, At a Bar? Not so much
-
EnforcerRock. Thanks for the Tip on Nakama

They've had tables since last summer. I think they went in around June or July. They've been so busy they just added more. Also have a poker room.
There's a restaurant on top of the Duquense Incline called the Georgetowne Inn. Haven't been there in a couple of years but used to be reasonably priced for lunch.
