2008 Acura TSX

Anyone own one/drive one? My girl is getting a new car in the next month, and she's looking (well...she's fixated) on Acura, specifically the TSX. I don't know much about them except that the resale on these bad boys is pretty good. Kbb lists an '08 with 34k and navi as $26k retail.

The one she's looking at is listed for $22-$23k on autotrader. It's located at a honda dealer in Dayton. One thing to note is that this one is not a "Certified Used Acura". Dealer claims that since it's being sold on a Honda lot, Honda can't technically put that tag on the vehicle. IMO, I don't think this is a deal breaker because Honda is a reputable company and TSX's seem to be good cars. Just wondering what everyone else thinks?

I told her that she shoul try for $21k on the price. Or try for the $22k OTD.

Have an '06, 35,000 miles. Zero problems, as opposed to our other car (GM product) which is a monthly problem. Runs just as well with as much pick-up as the day we bought it. She should definitely test drive it though, it isn't the smoothest car on the market, so if she is using it for a lot of long drives and wants more comfort, it might not be the right choice.

I have an Acura TL 2004, with 130,000 miles on it now and still runs like new with no problems ever. And I drive it fast. 75-85mph on the highway daily. They are MUCH better than the TSX.

If she wants to spend $20k on a TSX, go get a 07 or 08 TL. You can thank me later.

Oh, and if it isn't certified, demand a carfax on it. It was most likely in an accident at one point or another. It also tells how severe or light the accident was. Afterall, when you lift the hood, it reads Honda right on the motor. Even says it on the windows too. As a matter of fact, get a carfax regardless.

She checked it out yesterday, and the dealer handed over the carfax. 34k on the odo is pretty high for a car that's relatively new. Someone was definitely driving a lot.

I don't remember what was on the carfax, but it didn't appear as if there was any accidents reported on the vehicle. I think she can do better and look for earlier models with similar or more mileage. I told her that if they aren't budging on price, then walk away. She probably could find an '06 or '07 for a better deal.

How is she planning on paying? By CASH or LOAN...

I bought mine with 70k on it for $16k. It dropped from $20k and I went right in, test drove it, got the carfax, and bought it. Best move ever. It booked for $22k. Single owner and female. Mint condition.

If you are straight forward, tell them what you want, put your foot down, and threaten to walk, they will work with you.

It's a loan, but she's fortunate enough to have parents who'll be making the payments. Probably financing through a credit union and not the dealer.
