PS3
-
dancinbearI'm told that it's a better deal to buy a PS3 rather than a Blu-Ray player because they are about the same price but you at least get to play games too on the PS3.
Question though.....can you play regular DVD's on the PS3 too or just Blu-Ray discs? -
justincredibleYeah, you can play regular DVDs.
PS3 = GOAT -
CharlieHoghaven't you seen the commercials?
it only does EVERYTHING. -
OneBuckeye^ Except play ps2 games... the PS3 is also one of the best quality blue ray players for its price... if not the best.
-
NateI have a Ps3 that plays Ps2 games.

I think that's only true for the slim model. -
KnightXC1My PS3 plays my old PS2 games and that was one of the big selling points for me since I still play some of my PS2 games because I enjoy them so much. Best system ever.

imex99PS3 is a great bluray player and plays dvds.
In fact, depedning on YOUR system settings you can upconvert your dvd viewing to near HD quality. -
TBone14I can play PS2 games and am building a nice little blu ray collection as well. Great system..worth every penny at this price point. A lot of us bought ours for a lot more earlier in the systems life..I think I paid around 600 with an extra controller, usb charger, and headset thrown in.
-
darbypitcher22I'd get a PS3

As long as you have a HDTV and HDMI cables, you just pop in your dvd... It's that simple.heel023 wrote: "In fact, depedning on YOUR system settings you can upconvert your dvd viewing to near HD quality."

The PS3 is THE best blu-ray player. It gets updated in terms of firmware more than any other player on the market... -

haha, there are options during playback.....You can pause and hit Triangle button and it's one of the options and under the PS3 Menu options also. I would have to mess around to find exactly though!!! -
dancinbearhm...thanks for the input....now I just have to figure out how to buy it, hook it up, and use it without the fiance noticing...

Just make your first blu ray purchase a Matthew Mcconaughey movie where he takes his shirt off(all of them). In HD she will be sold. Atleast that would work on my fiance, but she is a blu ray junkie already so I don't have an issue.dancinbear wrote: hm...thanks for the input....now I just have to figure out how to buy it, hook it up, and use it without the fiance noticing... -

Hmm, maybe it's because I have a Sony Bravia hdtv, but I don't have to mess with any settings to upconvert my dvds.. It automatically detects them and does it on it's own.imex99 wrote:

imex99there are a few options to optimize for movie watching and PS2 game play. Push the triangle button and there are options there....sound,video, during play back.
