  This thread has been a great read. The thing I don't get is why people care so much about what other people do. If a guy wants to pop pills to get high or help him study who gives a shit. Its not your life.

  I'm far from a junkie fuckstick. I tried plenty of other options to address ADHD before we went with this option. You are using a prescription medication that is in some points used to treat a disorder that is recognized by the American Medical Association. (They are also used to treat narcolepsy.) You use it for something because you don't have the self discipline to do what I would have been happy to do in college. Sit down, study like a normal human being.
  
  When you get out of college and someone is unfortunate enough to hire you, good luck explaining the controlled substance that shows up on your piss test when you can't show a prescription for it.
  
  
  and tcarrier, I'm not mad at all and I've always been a very normal person except for the attention deficit I have. That does not make me abnormal or some kind of freak. I'm happy to be me and happy with the life I have.
  
  If you use any prescription drug for something other than what a doctor prescribes it for (Darby, that doctor should lose his license.) you are no better than people who grind oxycontin to get a buzz. There's no wiggle room there for me.

  Lol I am not calling anyone a druggie. I have many good friends that use the stuff. I just never needed it. And I wrote a 30 page paper on the election of 1944 in two days last semester with 50 sources. That was epic (and extremely bullshit). I also know engineering majors (duh, at an engineering school) who are clean, and don't take drugs on moral grounds (I dont have the same morals as them) and they do very well.

  I'm not educated enough about stuff like this to make a definite yes or no statement, but I think that's at least partially true due to the medical industry's love of hooking EVERYONE up to some shit. If I was born 5-10 years later, I probably would have been dosed up because of ADD when the reality was that I was just lazy, flighty and undisciplined. As I matured, I improved on those things, but still have periods where I say to myself that'll I'll accomplish this or that and then near-instantly do something insanely counter-productive. Thing is, I'm bright enough to know that the only thing to blame for that is myself.
  
  I'm not saying there's no legitimacy to ADD, but I think a lot of it is created by the medical industry so they can bilk people out of money for any little thing they can. You have a few people with a legit problem and you have a ton of people with minor issues related to said problem......so you act like the ton is on the same level as the few and make billions exploiting that.
