I Saw Someone Get Engaged Tonight.
-
Upper90Like, up close, in person....haha, I know it sounds weird, but I've never seen anyone that I know ask someone to marry them from an "inches away" standpoint.
I'm in D.C. spending some time with some of my D.M.V. friends, and no one saw it coming. I'm actually pretty close with the couple, me and the guy are like the exact same person. We had hung out most of the day, and he never mentioned it, never ran it by anyone, which I kind of respect. We had Thanksgiving out here tonight (Which presented the dicey situation of me cooking for others. I feel like I'm a good cook, but of course I would. I usually only cook for myself, and my own approval. Anyway....), and after the dinner, he was talking about how he met her, his then-girlfriend, and midway through, he pretended to drop something, proceeded to fumble around under the table, and popped up on the other side in front of her with a ring. After some confusion, she said yes.
I actually thought the whole thing was a joke at first. Once it hit me, I thought it was so cool to see in person. I also think it's a risk to pull that in front of more than one person, haha....but, and call me what you will, it gave me a really good feeling to see my two friends that I personally love, express their love for each other.
It was a good day? I think? -
cat_loverThat's pretty neat. I have never seen anyone get engaged close up but I have seen a scoreboard proposal at an Indians game.

Upper90I have a phone pic of the ring, but it's super blurry, she could barely stay still, and I didn't want to bug her too much. But, it's somewhat visible.
I wish someone would have recorded it, but again, no one had any idea it was coming. At all, haha, we were all caught so off guard. -
Upper90And yeah, "Poonhammer" is a wild username. LOL.

charliehustle14I played some slow pitch softball over the summer with my friends. We played on a team with some older guys. One of the older guys was straight trailer trash and proposed to his girlfriend after the game....it wasn't as dramatic as he thought it would be. Probably because it was slow pitch softball...and not game 7 of the World Series....or the Fiesta Bowl like Ian Johnson.
Kind of felt bad for the guy because no one there really cared. I also feel bad for him because his girlfriend is rather heavy and rather psychotic....which is probably the reason no one cared about their proposal. -
Glory DaysI saw a guy propose to his girl in an Applebee's. She said yes and people clapped.

livestrong24I was able to ask my girlfriend to marry me on video...
We had talked about getting married at a certain place and I told her one night that we should go check it out...she responded with "oh, I'll bring my camera"
So when we got to this place I took the camera, using the excuse I didn't want to be in the pictures. Snapped a few of her and then got her to stand and do a mock interview on why she liked this place. After the first question I kept looking around her as if something was out there. When she finally turned around, i pulled out the ring and got down on one knee.
Her reaction was priceless. She obviously knew it was coming at some point, but had know idea it was right then...
It's not a youtube sensation, but cool none the less... -

My favorite proposal.

thedynasty1998I had a friend who wanted to propose to his girlfriend in front of all his friends and family. They went to a concert and we all gathered at his house, and when they walked in she was like, "Why is everyone here?" And then he proposed. Kind of cool because it was recorded and everything.

sherm03I proposed at a really nice restaurant on my girl's birthday. I had asked the hostess when I made the reservations for a more private area of the restaurant because I was planning on proposing. They sat us in a smaller section of the restaurant, and there were two other couples, plus the 2 waiters for each table. So with 10 complete strangers around, I popped the question. She was floored and couldn't talk for what seemed like forever, especially when everyone else realized what was going on. When she said yes, everyone started clapping, and bought us a bottle of champagne and toasted us. It was a really cool feeling.
I also saw both of my girl's sisters get proposed to at two separate Christmases in front of the whole family. One year we were all really excited about it...the next year, we were all wishing it didn't happen. -
darbypitcher22I'm a fan of this guy...

enigmaaxI was sitting next to a guy who proposed to his wife at Medievel Times in Myrtle Beach several years ago. Thing was, she didn't know it was going to happen and they rigged it so that our section's knight (Red Knight) would win the competition and throw him the rose that he'd hand her right before proposing.
Well, I knocked him over to get the rose. He begged for me to give it to him as I mocked him. So, they went on with their little spotlight and King's announcement and he did the whole proposal thing right there in front of the whole arena.
The lady said to me afterwards, "Don't you feel bad that you took that rose?"
I replied, "No, but I do feel bad that you're marrying a guy who is too much of a pussy to take this rose from me." Stupid ####ers. -

Glad someone else commented first. I was going to but didn't want to seem too high-maintenance.OneBuckeye wrote:

Seriously? An Applebee's?
My fiance did a great job with his proposal. -
darbypitcher22if I ever decide to get married(verdict is still out on that one with all the crazies out there), I'll probably propose privately.
