Any Fans of the Guitarist Slash on Here?

IggyPride00I myself am a huge fan of old GNR, and love pretty much anything Slash has ever done.
He held a benefit concert Sunday Night in LA with an All-star Line-up and the highlight of the night was he and Duff playing Paradise City with Steven Adler (3/5 of the original line-up) for probably the first time in almost 20 years since Popcorn was kicked out of GNR in 1990. It sounded killer (Chester Bennington on vocals with Dave Navarro on the other guitar). Slash also played Out Ta Get me (been at least 16 years on that one) with Duff, Travis Barker on drums and Billy Idol on vocals. I figured I would put up a link for anyone who was a GNR fan as none of Axl's band of merry men have ever been able to replicate Slash's sound on the old material, and I always get excited seeing him play it still.
(Paradise City)
(Out ta get me)
Also on the Slash front he played a song off of his upcoming solo album that is slated for a February release for the first time. It features Andrew Stockdale (of Wolfmother) on vocals, and while the vocals are a little scratchy because of the recording the riff is killer and the solo is awesome.
(New Song-By the Sword)
I am really looking forward to this album, as for those who don't know he is having 18 different singers on it from all sorts of genres.
Here is his list of confirmed collaborators that are known so far, with more to still come out.
* Steven Adler (drums)
* Teddy Andreadis (clavient, wurlitzer)
* Travis Barker (drums)
* Lenny Castro (percussion)
* Alice Cooper (vocals)

Just figured I would put this post up for anyone who was a fan of Slash but don't necessarily follow what he is up to. Lots of good stuff in the near future it seems if you are a fan of good old fashion rock n' roll. -
tuskytuffguySlash is the shit. Thanks for the post.

visionquestHis playing was awesome on the "illusion" albums and of course, "appetite". After that, I could care less. He lost all the great phrasing he used to use in his playing during that time. I think his fire went away somehow. However, he is a great guitarist.

atomica600I saw Slash at an Aerosmith concert in Pittsburgh back in 1999, I think. He came on stage and played the last song with the guys. Sadly, I don't remember what the song was, but it was still a pretty cool concert moment.

I love Axl, and have seen Nu Guns a few times, but that is a tough claim to make. Axl floundered in LA for a few years with no record deal before Slash joined Guns, and then took 14 years to release a hitless album after he left.isadore wrote: axl rose was the talent, he was just on a free ride
They certainly brought the best out in eachother, but the fact Axl couldn't gain any traction before or after Slash left his life kind of debunks the idea that he was just riding the coat tails. -
isadorewhen you listen to Paradise City and especially the fantastic Welcome to the Jungle, songs that made Guns and Roses, there is no question who the great talent is.

tuskytuffguyThe band MADE Axl, bottom line. Velvet Revolver is not that big, but the music itself is awesome, and only because of the great instrumentalists(GnR band).

krazie45Guns N' Roses are my favorite band, so I'm a big Slash fan. The New GNR is alright but doesn't compare to the original lineup. Chinese Democracy does have some excellent songs on it though, even though the lack of publicity for it didn't give it much airtime. Velvet Revolver is also a good band and Slash has done well. There's no doubt they bring out the best in each other, and separately they just aren't as good. The Use Your Illusion albums are my favorite.....it shows the greatness of both Axl and Slash.

JTizzleGNR was the first parental advisory Tape (notice I said tape haha) that my mom actually bought for me. Slash is a bad ass though and that album sounds like it should pretty damn good!
