alright Ohio Chattlers, need a new vehicle

Manhattan BuckeyeOur Buick (I admit we had a Buick) bit the big one this morning. Nice job GM, after 70000 miles.
We're shopping this weekend, wife wants a mid-level SUV....needs to carry a young child and a 40 lb dog. Options are:
Acura MDX (wife's pick)
Toyota Highlander
Nissan Pathfinder
Ford Explorer
Anything else? I'm not going above those makes, it isn't worth it IMO, but we're open to other suggestions.
No GM. -
gorocks99Totally ignoring ALL your stipulations:
Chevy Corsica
or
Chrysler Lebaron
You can't go wrong. -
Manhattan BuckeyeThanks Michael Scott.
-
j_crazyhonda pilot or CRV whichever you like better.
same chassis as the MDX just cheaper and with less features. -
derek bomarJeep

justincredible
He drives a Sebring.Manhattan Buckeye wrote: Thanks Michael Scott.
I'd go with the Explorer from that list. If I were to get a Ford SUV, though, it would be an Edge or Flex. The Flex is the GOAT SUV.
-
Scarlet_BuckeyeDefinitely the Acura out of those choices.
-
wkfan2nd the Honda Pilot.....I've had 2 of them and they are outstanding cars.
-
LJK5 Blazer
-
j_crazyI have an edge and don't recommend it.
you won't like the space once you put 2 adults and a kid in it and try to haul anything that's not shaped perfectly. there are some hellacious blind spots in that car. worst i've ever driven. the brakes are loose (if that's the right word) you have to mash them to get almost any response. -
Manhattan BuckeyeScarlet Buckeye, you are probably right. It isn't even 11 o'clock and I've got two calls from the Acura dealership. I can't even get my work done and walk the dog without all of this. I will say her TSX has been a strong vehicle. For a 4-banger it had some pick-up.
-
kritzellPilot/MDX. They are the best Mid SUV's on the market. Here's a comparison.

fictionlexus rx 450h. much better fuel efficiency, and i personally prefer the styling.
-
Con_AlmaAgreed. Based on the choice the Acura MDX is the route we would probably go.
-
griddadtry the new Honda Accord CrossTour,,it is built here in Ohio at the East Liberty Auto Plant, other models that are built in Ohio by Honda are the Accord,CRV,Element and the Acura TL & RDX also coming this fall will be the new Acura TSX sport wagon. The Puilot and MDX are built at Hondas factory in Alabama.
-
Manhattan BuckeyeAny love for the Explorer? I'm happy to drive a Ford, my first vehicle was a 1986 V-8 Bronco, drove like the truck that it was but it got me 150,000 miles with only one transmission replacement.
-
Drums of WarMy folks bought one of the re-designed Equinox last fall and they love it. Drives great, and is just right size wise. The dealers were having a hard time keeping them in inventory. It is probably a bit better now.
-
BORIStheCrusherI've got a Nissan Murano and I love it. More of a crossover than SUV, but it has more room than it looks (plus the back seats go down). Very comfortable, and drives awesome.

gerb131Equinox is pretty nice, the old lady loves hers.

Saying no GM is like begging to stand beside the road.
Front ends on Fords will come apart without warning and will end your day.
