V: Season Finale

Very good episode if anyone happen to catch it. They finally let some things start happening, but its a shame(or a curse) that we'll have to probably wait 9 months to see what happens next.

Yeah, great episode. Shit started to hit the fan quickly.

But I agree, sadly we have another break now.

I love this show! I am glad they have redone it. While I loved the first one it was very campy, and love the new technology that can be put into it!

    damn. I missed it.

I was literally on the edge of my seat, and my heart was pounding through many parts of this episode. Good stuff!

A lot happens in that show. They don't waste many minutes.

So I can't figure out...Is Anna's #2 the leader of the 5th Column? They bought Joshua back, but I'm not sure if that was to torture him.

Also, that #2 has a set of stones to tell Anna she's experiencing human emotion.

Interesting development that Anna may be able to de-humanize her people. But can she do it to herself? Looks like they MAY be following the plot line from the original fairly closely. The V leader in that was bat-shit crazy and always screwed up. Human emotion doesn't mean someone is going to be good. And the hybrid baby played a key role.

Only concern is once all out war breaks out they run the risk of getting too long on ridiculous action and short on plot.

They've done a really good job of developing complicated characters. I'm not sure about Lisa, Anna's #2, the reporter or the mercenary, or if Ryan will be re-programmed. For that matter, we don't know about Joshua after he comes back from the dead.

Great finale! My one glaring question: with all of this advanced technology that the Visitors possess, you would think they would have security cameras in their ship. Like, wouldn't they at least have them in the room with the eggs? haha, come on! The Fifth Column got away with that attack scott-free, and these advanced beings are baffled ... just get a nanny cam!

    ^^^^
Yes, I didn't like that either.

There's also the issue of how long before Anna could just lay another brood. And why do they even need the soldiers with their advanced technology?

Plus, I think in the original the red dust was a biological attack to kill the aliens. Seems they've turned the tables and maybe this stuff is supposed to block out the sun and kill all plant life.

I try not to think about the James Bond-esque unnecessarily elaborate evil plot. Here's Dr. Evil saying "we'll win their minds, make them dependent on us, and in 10-15 years they won't know what hit them" while Scott is sitting there saying "send in all the warships and just blast everyone....this will be over in time for lunch"

I like Joshua. Maybe the 5th column is going to sneak him down to earth. But I don't know what side #2 is on. In the original series, there was a lot of internal political intrigue among the V's. He COULD be the leader of the 5th column, but his motives could be purely out of a desire to unseat Anna to take control for himself. It's an almost overwhelming dynamic that not only can V's be "re-programmed", but that human emotion shouldn't make one altruistic, either.

LOL....Wonder when they start eating humans. "Perhaps a nice Ethiopian dish, commander."

I too am intrigued with what's going to happen with Anna's #2 man (Marcus I believe?) There is definitely more to his character than we thought. I also think the older priest who forced Jack out for denouncing the Vs is one himself and that will come out eventually.

    Unguarded, too.

Big theme from the original was incompetent arrogance. That would be my take. Purely logical, rational and arrogant. Simple explanation is they didn't expect it and didn't think it could be done, so no redundant measures. Anna probably also thought their "test" had weeded out 5th column on the ships, which is where the arrogance and overconfidence comes in.

Anna developing human emotion is an interesting twist. There was a hint of emotion a few weeks ago when she saw the John May lives message, but I admit I didn't see her going the Hitler route (although that was probably predictable)!

Anna getting pissed at her daughter... isn't that human emotion?

I've kind of thought the older priest could be a V for a while. They definitely keep you guessing, but they've done a good job so far of not abusing the "anyone can be a V mole" concept.

I think the purpose of the older priest is just represent how people would be seduced by the technology and "miracles". You have Jack saying "false gods" and the older priest responding "sent to us BY God". Most of the people walked out of the church during Jack's sermon. I think that's just to illustrate that, to this point, there has been very large support and acceptance for the Vs.

The red dust is probably going to be blamed on 5th column, which would have given Anna the "moral" authority to turn her soldiers lose. So now she is calling in the warships presumably to battle the 5th column, and my guess is most people will buy that and still support the Vs. Might be where the reporter comes in, but will he join the resistance or be a coward and take the lackey route?

I expect the reporter to join the 5th column, and Ryan(the lone black guy) to join the V's. No clue what's going with the red dust or with Marcus(V #2) or why he brought back Joshua to life. I hope the red dust doesn't start a war, I like the plot, but if it just goes to a war it won't be as fun.

The old priest is definitely a V, in an earlier episode, Father Jack just gets randomly attacked by a V if anyone remembers.

Actually, it was the old priest that found him and took him to one of the healing centers. So I don't think he could be a V or he would have left Jack for dead. Nor would he have kicked Jack out - would have killed him or kept him close to spy on him.

I believe the guy who attacked Jack was actually a human assassin employed by the Vs. I think he had a list he was working off of that he had taken from one of his 5th column targets. Or maybe it was the same V assassin that had gone after Erica for some reason. I can't remember the exact course of events.

ok i was a huge fan of the original but haven't been able to catch an episode. in this series do they actually show the skin come of revealing the lizards like they did in the original?
  • ernest_t_bass
I was a little pissed that they didn't show the lizard baby. Let us see these dang things already.

I think that was just a reprisal for failing.

Interesting that Anna's first and apparently only emotions are rage, anger and revenge. I'm thinking that's unusual given how the 5th column seems to just assume if you are "unplugged" you are one of them. Ryan and John May are the only ones we really know much about, and they seem to have evolved more as far as human emotions go than other V's we've seen.

On the other hand, Joshua asking Lisa to decide which side she's on must mean others are unplugged but don't rebel.

My guess is Marcus is unplugged and in it for himself. Someone they clearly can use but will probably betray them at some point. In that regard, I think
he and Hobbes may be similar characters, though I feel like we are supposed to believe Hobbes will do the right thing when he has to.
  • ernest_t_bass
I don't think Hobbes will do the right thing. I think Hobbes is one of the ones selling everyone out.

When do they get their skin? I get the impression, since "skinning" is painful torture that they are either born with it or grow it later. Not the synthetic stuff the original V used as camouflage.

What's with the soldier having a monster "Jay Leno x5" chin?
