Lady GaGa before she was Lady GaGa...
-
derek bomarlive at NYU...pretty talented gal
-
Websurfinbird100% agree. She may be an odd one, but she has real musical chops, which is more than I can say for a lot of pop stars. She also paid her dues and wasn't just handed her success.
-
darbypitcher22she's hot.
-
dazedconfusedshe's weird but she's a hottie
-
CenterBHSFanI think she definitely looks better as a brunette (as most fake blondes do) and without all the theatrics!
-
thedynasty1998I really do enjoy her music. Her performance at the VMA's this year, although weird, was awesome!
-
jordo212000Yeah I agree with the others. She looks better then, than she does now. That song is actually a good song and isn't the usual garbage she sings. Its a shame she went the direction she is going.
-
nc52i thought laday gaga's name was george or bill or something like that before she got big
-
enigmaaxI heard her say on a radio interview that she writes all her own lyrics and has a lot to do with the music (even more to do with her shows, which she aspires to be more like a play than a concert). In that sense, she's not being changed or made to be something she's not by the record company and she's pretty proud of that. Definitely weird, but that extremely creative and driven to express her thoughts.
-
Tim TebowShe looks normal (and good) there...
-
Mooney44CardsMOst talented performer in pop music right now. LOVE Lady Gaga
-
Upper90I think it's all in how you define pop.
JMO, I don't find her to be that talented, or if she is, I'm missing it. She's seemingly got a label machine behind her, which is projecting this image that she now has, I mean, if that video tells me anything, it's simply that she's taken a direction that, as was stated earlier on this thread, just gives her popularity by feeding to the lower denominator of pop music. Be shocking, pretty, and wear either crazy shit, or nothing at all.
She writes her own stuff? Awesome. But, that's really not, or shouldn't be a high point of praise. I think she's got a decent voice, and some grasp of a decent pop ear....but I also feel like there are far more talented people than her in popular music today. JMO. -
Upper90^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Most likely, that seems to sadly be the way of it with major labels.
The perfect example of all of this is Pink. We're pretty much living through Pink all over again. When she first came out, she was all "ooohhhh, look at the pink haired white girl with soul!", and then it was "oooohhh....now she's all edgy and sexy", and then it was "ooohhhh....now she's a rock rebel!"....All the while L.A. Reid and LaFace records are just feeding it all. all of this "individuality", especially with female stars....isn't individuality at all. There's always a label behind it, and it's usually sad to see.
Christina Aguilera is a case that I think was different, in that she definitely let her label control her for a while, but now seems to have broken out of it. And I doubt she writes even 1/16th of her stuff, but her image now seems to be what SHE wants. I don't buy GaGa's image being what she wants, and I know one is an established artist, and one is newer, so poor comparison, perhaps...but the point should still be understandable. -
Mooney44CardsDo a little research on Lady Gaga, you guys have her all wrong.

JTizzleShe looks a hell of a lot better brunette def should go back imo!
-
Upper90I mean, I don't get what research there is that I've missed, I admit, I haven't really launched much of an investigation into her, though. I'm open to being enlightened, though?
-
Mooney44CardsI'm not your bitch, do your own reading. And to be honest, while I disagree with some of what is being said about her, I don't care enough to argue about it,
-
Upper90Ummmm.......alright?
I didn't want to debate, more be enlightened as someone who is a fan of someone who I'm not a fan of, I've always got an open ear/mind.
But....yikes. I didn't know you took it that seriously. Questioning fanhood = SERIOUS BUSINESS.
(Please understand that was a joke from those hilarious ESPN commercials.)
But, really, seriously...you claimed that we were missing something, that we hadn't "researched"....I know a decent amount about her background, and still hold my opinions....so, I would imagine the burden would be on you to convince otherwise, since you bought it up, Know what I'm sayin'? -
Mooney44CardsI get it. She has a real voice, she's unique, she regularly performs songs a-capella or with only her own piano accompaniment, she writes her own music the way she wants it to be. She is a huge supporter of the gay community and therefore prefers to write music that is popular in dance clubs which is a large part of gay community nightlife.
