Steve Carell says it is "likely" he will leave The Office after next season.

I just read something about this. It is too soon to know one way or the other. He is signed on for at least another season. That is a lot of time for things to change.

I've been as big a fan of The Office as anyone, but the show has run its course. If he doesn't re-up, it will be a good time to say goodbye to our friend's in Scranton. Maybe they can spin it off with a few of the characters, but if they were going to do that, it should have happened years ago.

It would definitely be a good time to end it if he doesn't come back.

They can definitely have a compelling arc in a season's time - would help if they could talk Amy Ryan into coming back but I doubt that's going to happen. It would also help if they could get Daniels and the main writing unit to focus on one last season. The main problem with this season is too many forced story arcs that haven't been well developed (Sabre takeover), are non-compelling (Erin-Andy romance), or both (Michael's potential love interests, with the thing with Pam's mother being the nadir of the entire show).

It's not a good show anyways. I'm surprised it's been around so long.

I'll no longer have a show that I "must" watch show when the Office finally ends. I'll be sad to see it go but it won't be the same without Carell. They have to end it when he walks away. The show has been going downhill for a while, but it still gives me a good chuckle here and there.

I haven't watched it in soo long it's disappointing (I don't have NBC and have been too busy to catch them on Hulu).

I will be slightly disappointed to see it go, but everything runs its course eventually. The Office has been a good (sometimes great) show for many years now. When it ends, I just hope they go out on a high note. I hope they need to make sure that the final season is one for the ages.

I love the show and think it'd be a great time for it to end. They've really done all they could do with it in my opinion.

Smart. No reason to extend it longer than it needs to, all good things come to an end. I'm not a big fan of the show, but I can't say it's a bad show. Probably the right time to move on.
