Songs that rhyme the same word

• Steel Valley Football
(I posted this about a week ago on another site with not much traffic..thought it might do better here. I'm new here so hopefully this hasn't been discussed already)

The song that got me thinking about this a couple years ago was All Summer Long by Kid Rock because people on the va-JJ were complaining how dumb he was for this verse:

We were trying different things
We were smoking funny things
Making love out by the lake to our favorite song

I said they were talking nonsense and that lots of singers do that and that he did it intentionally as it is a quantified method of rhyming. Since then, I've heard a half dozen or more examples of songs rhyming the same word in a song; though I can only think of a few now.

Lou Reed - Walk on the Wild Side

But she never lost her head
Even when she was giving head
She says, hey babe
Take a walk on the wild side

Bob Seger actually does it twice in Travelin' Man

Sometimes at night, I see their faces
I feel the traces they've left on my soul
Those are the memories that make me a wealthy soul
Those are the memories that make me a wealthy soul

(and then later)

Travelin' man, love when I can
Turn in my hand 'cause I'm goin' on
Oh, travelin' man, love when I can
But sooner or later I'm goin' on

Black Sabbath - War Pigs

Generals gathered in their masses
Just like witches at black masses

What are some others?

Nothing jumps out at me off the top of my head but I am sure I can find an instance or two by putting my ipod on random.

I hate songs where they just don't rhyme at all.

For instance, Sheryl Crow's verse in "Picture":

I put your picture away
I wonder where you been

stupid bitch

(some others people added on another site)

This looks like a job for me
So everybody, just follow me
Cause we need a little controversy
Cause it feels so empty without me

Without Me- Eminem

----------------

Young Jeezy "Skies The Limit"

I commentate the game like John Madden
Cause I played in the game like John Madden

-----------------

Stones - Paint it Black

I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes

I see a line of cars and they're all painted black
With flowers and my love both never to come back
I see people turn their heads and quickly look away
Like a new born baby it just happens every day

I look inside myself and see my heart is black
I see my red door and must have it painted black
Maybe then I'll fade away and not have to face the facts
It's not easy facin' up when your whole world is black

Every Day I'm Hustlin'-Rick Ross

I'm in the distribution, I'm like Atlantic
I got them motherfuckers flyin' 'cross the Atlantic

This one is tricky and threw me at first

Steve Winwood - When You See a Chance Take It.

Stand up in a clear blue morning
Until you see what can be
Alone in a cold day dawning
Are you still free can you be

When some cold tomorrow finds you
When some sad old dream reminds you
How the endless road unwinds you

While you see a chance take it
Find romance fake it
Because it's all on you

Don't you know by now
No one gives you anything
Don't you wonder how you keep on moving
One more day your way go your way

When there's no one left to leave you
Even you don't quite believe you
That's when nothing can deceive you

And that old grey wind is blowing
And there's nothing left worth knowing
And it's time you should be going

While you see a chance take it
Find romance
While you see a chance take it
Find romance

I don't think it counts because the writer is not attempting to rhyme "you" - he's rhyming "finds", "reminds" and "unwinds" in the first part and "leave", "believe", and "deceive" in the second.

Magnum cost me twenty-two
Sat it on 'dem twenty-two's
Birds go for twenty-two

..lil Mama super thick, she say she twenty-two
We in room...two twenty-two

Probably not the correct order...but I can't think of another song where they used the same ending word so many times

Another example that's like the Steve Winwood one above is Let it Be by the Beatles:

Hey Jude, don't make it bad
Take a sad song and make it better
Remember to let her into your heart
Then you can start to make it better

(and later)

Hey Jude, don't make it bad
Take a sad song and make it better
Remember to let her under your skin
Then you begin to make it better

It's tricky because Lennon/McCartney weren't attempting to rhyme "better" as it looks on paper, but, rather, "heart" with "start" and "skin" with "begin" as you've heard in the song.

Krazie45 and Raiderbuck those are both good ones.

LOL at stupid bitch.

But, the writer was actually rhyming "been" with "him".

I put your picture away
I wonder where you've been
I cant look at you while I'm lyin next to him
I put your picture away
I wonder where you've been
I cant look at you while I'm lyin next to him

Here's one that seems to intentionally not rhyme:

He's a real nowhere man
Sitting in his nowhere land
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody

Doesn't have a point of view
knows not where he's going to
Isn't he a bit like you and me?

Since I was a kid in the 70's and got my first Beatles 8-track, I've wondered why they didn't end the last verse with "me and you" so it would rhyme.

Not really what youre talking about, but this thread made me think of it.

Lil Wayne -- Lollipop

Safe sex is great sex
You better where that latex
Cause you dont want that late text
That, "I think Im late text"
