Unbelieveable (roomate story)

  Okay... let me preface that I admit to opening the dishwasher after the dishes have been cleaned and will remove the dishes I need in order to eat a meal (i.e., this morning I removed a plate, fork, and knife so I could eat my waffles). Now... when I do this I always make sure to go back to the dishwasher and empty it AFTER I am done eating.
  
  Okay... now... I also have to admit that myself and roommate #3 are the ones who now predominantly use the dishwasher. Roommate #2 (the problem roommate) has recently started washing his dishes in the sink and placing them in a drying rack.
  
  Okay... now that we have everything prefaced... listen to this (what I believe to be) total b.s. and let me know what you think.
  
  The time is 9:15am. I woke up and started fixing some waffles. I opened the cabinet to grab my breakfast plate. All the plates are gone. So, I opened the dishwasher and foraged for a plate, fork, and knife. I then returned to the toaster.
  
  Enter roommate #2. As I'm finishing prepping my breakfast (getting the butter out, warming up the syrup, keeping a close eye on my waffles so they don't burn, etc.), I catch him open the dishwasher and start unloading the dishes. After like a minute, he's done. I'm like, "Wow... that was fast. Almost a little TOO fast." So I proceed back to my bedroom with my breakfast. After finishing up eating, I return back to the kitchen to place my now dirty dishes in the dishwasher. To my astonishment, the dishwasher is still full. Immediately I'm like "WTF." After assessing the situation for like 15 seconds, I immediately realize roommate #2 unloaded only his own clean dishes. I know this because we have to distinct sets. The ones I brought with me when I moved in and the ones he brought with him when he moved in. I tend to only use mine and he only uses his. Ironically, the only clean dishes left in the dishwasher were my plates, bowls, the silverware, the cups, spatulas, etc.
  
  Is this FAIR or FOUL?

  I wouldn't sweat it. At least you only had your own clean dishes to put away.

  If he doesn't use the dishwasher how did his plates get in there?
  
  It sounds like a simple, selfish, personality quirk. No biggy.

  If he was jizzing on your plates and putting them in the dishwasher as if they were clean or something, then I would bring it up.

  I'm not really sweating it; i mean obviously it irked me enough to complain about it on here. I'm just kinda shocked and in that "of all the nerve" phase right now.

  If you get "shocked" and in that "of all the nerve" phase over something as simple as that, then you might be the problem roommate.

  I mean, just because he started washing his dishes and placing them in the drying rack doesn't mean he still won't use the dishwasher. For instance, if him and his girlfriend make this huge dinner and use a whole bunch of stuff, instead of washing them they will just toss it in the dishwasher.

  I don't think he has done anything wrong. It's simply one of those things that are different amongst people. I wouldn't even acknowledge it.

  Okay. Thanks. I appreciate your input. I mean, I wanted to see what someone outside of the situation would think.
  
  I mean, I thought it was common courtesy that if you opened the dishwasher and saw that there were clean plates in there you empty the dishwasher. Now I know I said I have been known to open the dishwasher and remove the things I need and then eat, but that's only because I'm hungry and damnit I want to eat. I do always return back to the dishwasher once I am done and empty it. So... I just thought that was the social norm but apparently it's not

  Moderately douchey, but I've seen worse. I'd recommend a couple of boogers on his dishes if he does it again.

  Quit bitching. My roommates leave their plates sitting by the couch with their food still on it and let it get crusty. I refuse to touch their dishes and only wash what I need to use until they clean their own.

  Most people would rather have their roommate NOT touch their stuff. Chill out, if this this the worst thing he does you have it made.

  Hmm.. I guess its just me. Thanks for the reality check guys. I mean, that's why I posted this story here in the first place. I wanted to see if I was rigjt in thinking this was really lame on his part or if it was lame on my part for thinking it was lame. Thank you

  Yeah not a big deal. My roommate doesn't shower very much, sleeps 14 hours a day, never goes to class, leaves food out all the time, gets shit all over the futon and leaves spitters everywhere. Keep in mind its a dorm room too.

  not a biggie. i once had a roomie who segregated our food in the fridge. one day i accidentally (I guess, because it's fucking stupid to separate food) put my hot dog and mustard container on his shelf. He threw it away. so one day he got home from work late and i had taken all of his food out of the fridge and put it in a cooler on the patio with no ice. It was Houston, all his shit was ruined (it was mainly because the ice cream melted and cover/saturated most of the other shit). He chilled the fuck out after that and our food was no longer separate.
