Michael Stanley Band

  • skank
Around NE Ohio from the mid 70s to the late 80s, The Michael Stanley band were pretty popular, I know I wore out several....tapes....listening to them while in HS. They rocked pretty good. 'He can't love you', the song I posted, I believe made it to like #17 on the charts, and 'Lover' made it pretty high also. They had one other song that I know made the charts, but I can't remember it. The video I've posted was from the early 80s on VH1, it's kind of corny, but what video from back then isn't?

    Your thoughts on MSB.

Saw them at Muskingum College in the late seventies... Went to Kent in the early eighties and you could not go to a party without hearing MSB. (Also caught forrmer MSB band member Jonah Koslen... with Breathless at Kent)

I like them alot... especially the stage pass album. Good band... just maybe never differentiated enough to be a "nationwide success."

Don't forget about the song "Lover"

Went to see them at the Pro Football Hall of Fame Ribs burnoff last year because I was given free tickets.
MSB was a little bit before my time. :D

'When I'm holding you tight' is the other one that made the charts.

Nope, mentioned it in my first post, the live version isn't as good as the one they play on the radio though.

Speaking of radio, for those of you who haven't lived around here for a long time, Michael is still plays, but he's also a DJ on either 97.5 or 98.5, I can't remember which.

I've seen them a couple of times, and have actually met Michael, he's a really nice guy.

    He is on WNCX 98.5.

Good stuff growing up. Not sure why they never really hit it big.

That's why I like the group!

RingZ: I watched a documentarý on them and I recall that when they got their big shot to the national scene, somebody got sick. Perhaps others can verify. And, Angel.......please!

MSB was a regional band, but never garnered the national spotlight like the true rock bands had back in the day. They were more like a bubble gum rock band.
