Do You Use Your Turn signal?

  • krambman
My biggest pet peeve when driving is when people don't use their turn signal. Some people won't signal a turn, others won't signal a lane change, and I'll never understand why some people don't do something as simply as flicking on their turn signal when they're supposed to. The worst is when people change lanes on the freeway without signaling. If you want to get over I'll happy slow down or do what I need to to make room for you if you signal. Even if you cut me off, I won't be that upset if you signaled first, but if you get over without signaling, I'm upset.

    Yes. Even in turn lanes.

    Only for American cars.
  • hasbeen
only when there are cars around

I do all of the time, and if you don't, I lay on the horn. Too busy to give your wrist a slight flick? It doesn't take much effort, and makes the roads safer....

Because laying on your horn trying to get someones attention is real safe.

Two idiots fuck, they won't make a genius.

If there is no other traffic on the road usually not. I try do it as much as possible but can't say I do it all the time.

    All the time.

Yes, until I am in my neighborhood streets past 10pm.

Always. I live on a country road and I still signal when turning into my driveway.
  • Swamp Fox
Yes. I use it for corners as well as lane changes.

    No reason not to.

One of the most important things you can do from a safety perspective is let others know what you are going to do.

Much like the OP, people not using their signal is my biggest pet peeve. It is an easy way to cause an accident. I usually lay on the horn when i go by them. I use my signal all the time.

always...this is prolly the number one reason for my road rage, along with people who drive at or below the flow of traffic in the passing (left) lane

Hell no! driving in the city ...if you on my ass and you're that close to me, and in that much of a hurry ... who in the wrong????? My brake lights should give you a clue ..so back off
As for the on coming traffic ...I'm in the turning lane what that tell you and what does it matter if I'm turning into a side street or parking lot ...I'm stopped and waiting for you to pass and as for the guy behind me ...did you not see my brake lights or where you to close to change lanes..........

I do use my turn signals ... in changing lanes and getting off the expressway.

If turn signal where never installed in cars would we be more careful of how we drive?

I use them when there is anyone else around. If I'm driving down, I look to see if anyone is around and signal if there is. Same on the highway. If there is anyone in sight in any direction I signal.

The only time I don't is when I'm on back roads and I'm the only car in the area. Sometimes, I don't bother with using it then, as it seems to be sort of a "if a tree falls in the woods and no one hears it, does it make a noise" sort of thing.

Not that many people live by me. I always signal on country roads but I frequently don't stop at stop signs if nobody is coming. (I slow down and look, but don't always come to a complete stop.)

That's funny. I'm the exact opposite. I always come to a full stop, but don't always signal when on country roads.
