I have a 10/22 rifle, an old Remington 660 .243 and a Remington 700 VTR .308
2 AR15's
and lots and lots of shotguns ranging from Mossbergs to Brownings

My father had FFA and sold guns, ammo, dynamite... he literally had 100's of guns after retirement... and I used to sell em at our store. He sold most all of them at auction.. all of the kids had all we wanted and he knew he did't have long to live. He didn't want my Mom to worry about having all of the guns and artillary around. (Don't worry Mom was still packing LOL) He had tons of wood shell boxes, shotgun shells and bullets of all calibers. We could have held somebody off for quite a while at our street...

I haven't shot a gun in twenty years now.... do not even keep one in the house. I like the fact that the bad guys have to wonder... Do they, or do they not... have guns for protection?

Desert Eagle 9mm

Plan on getting more and a lighter 9mm. The Desert Eagle is built like a tank and pretty heavy for a 9mm IMO.

LOL I saw the Hi-Point 9mm and it reminded me of a funny story... When I went through the concealed carry course, they stressed BIG TIME not to show up with a Hi-Point. Two people still came packin' with their Hi-Points... First on the firing line was the lady that owned one... She fired the gun and the magazine fell out. She picked it back up, fired it again and the same result! The other was a guy that brought his up to the line, fired it once and the next round popped up through the chamber and lodged in the slide jamming the gun. It was freaking hysterical... The instructors allowed them to finish with revolvers they supplied. After the course was over, the instructor had a talk with everyone about Hi-Point firearms... They said "If you want to live in a gun fight, hope the other guy owns one of these". LOL

I'm not against gun ownership, just so you know. Seems like plenty of you collect them because you enjoy collecting them, much like some people with coins, etc. Other people hunt, or whatever. Cool with me. The idea of a gun for protection though is just so far fetched in my mind. It seems like its every gun lover's wet dream for some burgler to burgle their house and for them to empty a round into their cranium or something. It never happens though.

For the record I own 0 guns.

I was a little concerned when I bought my current house... The family that sold the house to us may have painted a target on the house. The man was a police officer and he was the head of drug enforcement for the county. He has put a lot of people away and I have heard some shady things about the way he operated as well. Haven't had any issues, but I would rather be prepared than caught in a bad situation without being able to fight back. I work 24 hour shifts and its not hard for a male to over power two females, but when one is holding a gun she is very familiar with, knows how to shoot it, enjoys shooting it, and won't hesitate to use it in the event a threat to her or her daughter... Well that gives me piece of mind when I am at work. No one hopes for a home invasion so they can waste someone, (you better have damn good reason to pull that trigger as well) but they do happen. I sleep better at night knowing if I have to, I can give someone a lethal dose of lead poisoning and keep my family safe.

We have a few guns plus a home security system. Both give some peace of mind especially since a suspected murderer from Y-town was picked up in our neighborhood last week. The house where he was found is a known drug house.

As I don't particularly consider myself a gun lover, I didn't even get the wet dream to enjoy. Fortunately for both of us, the burglar that broke into my house, as stupid an act as that is, was at least smart enough not to go up against someone with a gun. Instead he chose to wait with me until the police arrived.

was he armed too? odds are you didnt even need a gun. just being there would have stopped him.

He had a knife as any well-prepared burglar would. As far as playing the odds with my life go, I'll choose to play them based on my actions rather than those of a criminal every time.

Just carrying a weapon does not make for an expert or preparedness to use it.
Training and proficiency of a weapon is important. I go to the range weekly and practice.
If I’m to use this weapon at some point I what to be able to use it effectively and safely. To many time those that get a CCW will carry but not continue the additional training…that a problem.
I suggest to anyone if you buy or carry a weapon …….be proficient with it and learn how to use it.
