    What is new -
    • Front-facing video chat camera
    • Improved regular back-camera (the lens is quite noticeably larger than the iPhone 3GS)
    • Camera flash
    • Micro-SIM instead of standard SIM (like the iPad)
    • Improved display. It's unclear if it's the 960x640 display thrown around before—it certainly looks like it, with the "Connect to iTunes" screen displaying much higher resolution than on a 3GS.
    • What looks to be a secondary mic for noise cancellation, at the top, next to the headphone jack
    • Split buttons for volume
    • Power, mute, and volume buttons are all metallic

    What has changed -
    • The back is entirely flat, made of either glass (more likely) or ceramic or shiny plastic in order for the cell signal to poke through. Tapping on the back makes a more hollow and higher pitched sound compared to tapping on the glass on the front/screen, but that could just be the orientation of components inside making for a different sound
    • An aluminum border going completely around the outside
    • Slightly smaller screen than the 3GS (but seemingly higher resolution)
    • Everything is more squared off
    • 3 grams heavier
    • 16% Larger battery
    • Internals components are shrunken, miniaturized and reduced to make room for the larger battery

I think anything is better than the current plastic. I would prefer the aluminum around the edges to make the back of the phone (just like the ipad) but whatever.

Any thoughts as to when this may come out? I was thinking of upgrading my 3g to 3gs but may wait if this is in fact the case.

So how about they release this bad boy for Verizon? I'd ditch my Blackberry Curve2 in a heartbeat.
  • Woollums9
hopefully this is the one they are saying may come to VZW

My contract on a normal flip cell phone expired almost a year ago with Verizon. I would have switched to AT&T but their 3G network is garbageI have been waiting. The day an iPhone version comes out for Verizon one will be mine.

HTC is making some quality phones. I have a few friends with them and I haven't heard any complaints. Android is gaining steam and finally some diverse and decent apps are coming out. From November to now 20,000 apps have been developed and with the more Android phones coming out I expect that growth would continue.

It's real....gizmodo.com got a letter form Apple requesting it's return.

Imagine being the employee who lost it in a bar? Apple is known for it's airtight security and tight lips when it comes to new products.

Jobs won't be able to keep everyone in the dark unless they do a complete re-do.

I have a pretty good feeling this wasn't left in a bar on accident.

Apple does this on purpose. It's all about getting people hyped up for upcoming phones. No one accidently leaves a "prototype" phone at a bar. I highly doubt any prototype phone is allowed to leave the company office.

Actually, ytowngirlinfla, Apple is the exact opposite.. These guys are very closed lipped about their products, then BAM they announce something during their conferences that everybody loves..

Steve Jobs is apparently very upset and sent a letter to Gizmodo pretty much demanding the phone back.

I mean, could this be a publicity stunt? Sure.. But it's not like Apple.

They usually have workers in different areas of the country/world putting separate pieces of a product together so nobody but the designers/Jobs/important people know what it could be.. They LOVE the big unveilings.

As far as the camera, the backside camera is rumored to be between 5 to 8 MP and most likely includes Flash. The Frontside Camera would be a nice addition as well, especially for the iChat stuff they were talking about in the 4.0 software update.

    Ok.

Gizmodo has had this thing since March 18th, dissecting it essentially.

I would think that if they held it for this long, and did so much press coverage the thing is probably a beta version of a future release. Why an engineer would have one out in the wild is beyond me.

Looks like it's legit, and Apple wants it back
