What are you doing, filling them up to the brim until they weigh 50 pounds? I've never had a problem with any trash bags from anywhere.wes_mantooth wrote:

Why would you buy frozen burger?Fab1b wrote: Don't buy the generic box of frozen hamburgers made by Flander's either, might as well just buy 20 hockey pucks!!
I get the cheapest thing available most of the time. -

Yeah, I don't think I've ever had those, but they don't look appetizing. We usually make our own burgers, not really a fan of the frozen ones. We usually shop at Kroger but I don't mind buying dry groceries from Walmart. The one thing I will implore everyone to do is do not buy any meat from the Walmart meat department. The frozen foods section is fine, but the meat in those vacuum packages, do not touch. Trust me.Fab1b wrote: Don't buy the generic box of frozen hamburgers made by Flander's either, might as well just buy 20 hockey pucks!! -

Good call, cans are only good for casseroles and homemade soups.wes_mantooth wrote:
I don't usually(I buy those steam bags), but I am making a casserole for a draft party on Thursday.Sonofanump wrote: I can not buy cheap pasta sauce, beyond that I'll by generic/store brand.
Why would you buy canned veggies? I can only eat frozen/steamed or fresh. -

you aren't supposed to eat them right out of the bagFab1b wrote: Don't buy the generic box of frozen hamburgers made by Flander's either, might as well just buy 20 hockey pucks!! -
krambmanI'm a bachelor so I obviously have to do all of the grocery shopping. I buy generics for almost anything. The one thing i absolutely will not buy a generic of is Jif peanut butter. My dad was a choosy mom, so it was always Jif growing up, and as far as I'm concerned if it ain't Jif it ain't peanut butter!
There are probably other things that I will usually choose the name brand over the generics, but for the most part, give me the knock off. -

I buy the frozen when I am cooking for the masses but I learned one time with the Flanders how awful they are. Bubba's are great or I do make my own when its just a few people but when its for like 10+ people they get the frozen box of 20 LOL!!I Wear Pants wrote:

I agree. Never again will I purchase 'generic' trash bags. Also, I will never purchase 'generic' bacon again either.wes_mantooth wrote: She talked me into trash bags.....what a disaster!!! These things suck balls(not literally). I did buy store brand canned veggies, they are exactly the same. -
DESCENTdmcA lot of "generic" brand stuff is still made by a name brand company. some stuff still sucks though.
-
CenterBHSFanThings I have to have that are brand name:
Tide
Downy
Heinz
Scrubbing Bubbles
Q-tips
Pepsi
Cereal
Ivory soap
Things I will buy generic:
bleach
baking goods (salt, spices, flour, sugar, etc.)
canned veggies
I never buy meat that is already frozen. I like to buy in bulk and separate into smaller, meal sized packages and freeze it myself. -
UA5straightin2008krogers generic condoms suck!!!

If you're going to buy frozen burgers, these are the ones! They're expensive, but really good! About $8 for 6 patties. -
Con_AlmaI haven't been grocery shopping in more than a decade. It just gets done.

Buy the generic bags, just get ones with decent thickness (listed on the boxes in "mils")Scarlet_Buckeye wrote:

Just get the generics with at least the same thickness as the name brand bags you buy. It isn't rocket science. -

I am anti-generic except for prescription drugs for some reason.wes_mantooth wrote: I decided to go grocery shopping with my grandma the other day. She could not believe that I buy the "name brands" on everything. After 10 mins or so of lectures, she talked me into buying the store brand generics for a few things.
Do you buy generics? What will/won't you buy that is generic?
People try to tell me it's all the same but I know damn well it isn't. -

Their slogan is "choosy moms choose Jif." Well, my mom doesn't like peanut butter but my dad loves the stuff and he would only have Jif, so we used to joke that he was a choosy mom.I Wear Pants wrote:krambman wrote: I'm a bachelor so I obviously have to do all of the grocery shopping. ChesapeakeWell, I did buy something generic out of a 140.00 trip to Walmart today.
I bought four 18 gallon Sterilite storage tubs "red/blue/green/yellow" to use as toy boxes because they are on sale for 4.40 each.
I'd usually pay the extra and just buy Rubbermaid brand but now Rubbermaid products are pos too. -
AppleI have no problem shopping at Aldi, which is basically entirely "generic" products. Everything I get is considerably cheaper in price and comparable in taste to many name brands and Kroger brands, though I do go to Kroger and other stores for some things. I got turned on to Aldi's from an intern at work (a vegetabletarian) who said they had a really good produce section, so I decided to check it out and it's true. Angel is also a big fan of Aldi's. I would guess I saved close to $15-$20 just this week shopping there.
