Give thanks …to being unemployed

  • muffy
I'd like to thank the banks. I'd really like to thank Chase for buying Bear Sterns so that there was a duplication in jobs and my husband and about everyone else in his group got let go. The Bear Sterns people got the jobs.

It sure is. The law states that the opportunity for a education is fair and balanced.

Except that the education system is based off of property tax.

That's why Dublin has a bitchin school and rural schools are having cutbacks.

    Two links:

First, a cool walkthrough of an abandoned school with the rundown of how the education system was ruled unconsitutional:
    http://www.forgottenoh.com/NSPS/nsps.html

And a cool wiki article of the case:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DeRolph_v._State

Anyone have the link of the video that compares Vinton County and Dublin schools?
One of my education professors showed that to us when I was in my first year. It was depressing.

Get special ed certified. My brother has interviewed for like 10 openings in the past couple weeks, all in central Ohio.
Start classes next month for my masters in special ed. Would rather do what I graduated in, but you gotta do what you gotta do to get a job.
Awesome. That is exactly what my brother did. He just finished his masters in special education, and job prospects are looking real good.

He started out as social studies...no chance in hell you're finding one of those in Ohio at the moment.
You'll also be the very first person in the school district that is let go due to budget constraints. Double edged sword.

The correct answer Belly is looking for is "public servant and servants."

In times like this people should speak out and voice what on their mind.
Let hear from real world and real Americans who are unemployed.
If Public Servant comes to mind then say it ..if not then place blame where blame should be placed.
How about we stop whining about it and go do something?

Eh, not really. There are laws in place and the like saying that special education teachers need to be provided, they are fairly safe. Certainly safer than gym teachers, art and music teachers, and librarians.

Lots of stipulations on special education teachers and schools and needing to have them by law or funding requirements or whatever.

At least, that is what i've been told, just relaying what my brother and his fiancee have told me.

Special ed has more protections than other areas, i think.

I thought you were a six-figure OSU grad...
I'm unemployed as far as the government is concerned, but don't worry, my bank accounts are still being tallied as we speak.

I know there are protections in place. But chances are they are axing everything you mentioned already and you're included in it.
