The best 5 year old baseball player in America, Scott Boras is drooling somewhere!

Move over Bryce Harper, you've got nothing on this kid!

It is pretty amazing at 5 years old the skills he has.

The kid needs a smaller bat.

And..........I'm happy to help you out to keep this off the FFT bottom ten list! :D

    Holy shit.

I'm calling shenanigans that the ball in the cage is going 85, but if it's even going half of that...where's the kid's helmet??? My god!!!

Oh come on, he's in a freakin' cage he doesn't need a helmet.

And IMO, the ball in the video IS NOT going 85. Either way, it's still going pretty quick and his bat is too big for him so it's still very impressive for a 5 year old. Impressive in the field too.

Yeah, no pressure here. This is why parents like this piss me off. Putting their entire hopes and dreams on a 5 year old kid growing up to play baseball. What are they going to do if at 10 or so he decides he wants to do something different?

Also...in the video, it cracked me up on the guy talking and the caption below says "baseball player"!

FWIW, after he swings he does end up basically standing on the plate because the bat is entirely too heavy for him and he spins himself across the plate after the swing. Good way to take a ball to the head.

If the kid can hit an 85 MPH fastball maybe he got hit in the head in the first place. Rookie of the Year kinda shit.

I was way more impressed by his fielding skills than I was with his hitting, but the hitting was also impressive.

I wasn't that impressed at all.

Unless you count being impressed at how stupid his parents are for letting him step into a batting cage without a helmet.

I've been to the cages hundreds of times in my life from the time I was his age and I have yet to ever see anyone get hit in the head...except for a tip going straight up into the net and coming down...might give you a bump but you're not going to be seriously disabled.

Have fun explaining that to the lawyers when the machine fucks up or the kid leans a little too far over the plate.

Really? I've been drilled twice in the ribs while in the cage and I know two kids that I've played with that have also been hit before. I figured it was kind of common.

And yes, it was a batting cage. Not a JUGS machine. No, it wasn't all at the same facility. Happened between 3 different cages at 3 different locations. And no, I wasn't standing in the direct line of it.

Those things can run array at any time IMO. I wouldn't risk it by sending a 5 year old into a cage without a helmet...especially when he's swinging a heavy bat that carryies him over the heart of the plate on his follow through.

I won't have to talk to anyone.

Not saying it doesn't happen but accidents happen everywhere. He could be wearing a helmet and still get fucked up. Shit happens, but rarely will something go wrong in a batting cage...very rarely.

Whatev, helmets in cages are for pussies! ;)

Always kinda get sad when I see this. This kid will be exploited by everybody around him for the rest of his life.

Well until he's 16 and people realize that he isn't all that special anymore.
