  I watched Greg Simpson play for Lima Sr in basketball. IMO he was another bigtime talent that fell short on the next level!!

  Was my assistant basketball coach in HS. He played at DeVillbis HS in Toledo, Ohio. All state in basketball, track and football. Couldve been great in any of them but decided to joined the armed forces. He became a Navy SEAL.

  If he became a Navy SEAL he acheived in his life. I was goinng with athletes that never became what you thought they might. Kudos to Mark Knabbs.

  I played against Jones. Dude could shoot a ball! We played a box and one and I was the one. Held him to 34 the first game and 36 the second.
  Thats right I said held him! He averaged something like 43 that year.
  
  At OSU he ended up with Stokes and Taylor from canton. They were much quicker and alot better defenders than Jones so his playing time suffered. But when they needed a three he was in the game.

  I have a buddy that plays ball at the Lima Y. He says Simpson still plays up there sometimes and he is still amazing. If he would have stayed out of trouble he would have been NBA for sure.

  Gotcha, I guess I was thinking you meant didnt achieve the higheslt level they couldve athletically. He is a great man, I actually just coached his son in 8th grade this year. Unfortunately, financially, he may be forced to send him to Libbey HS (not a knock on Libbey)
  
  
  Mark could have probably gone on to a major college for football at a position other than QB. Possibly couldve played major college basketball as well, but he was a little short even for a guard.

  Not in High School. Can't imagine what he would have averaged.
  Not sure when D1 got it.

  The three wasn't used till 86. He graduated in 85.
