Almost 800,000 people are said to have rid themselves of the cable and satellite moving to internet based services. Although it's only about 1% of the total market it's the trend of movement that's worth noting.
Although we don't seek out alternate TV sources we drop our basic cable every June and don't reconnect it until September. -

Con_Alma...don't watch TV in the summer. Barely watch it the other nine months out of the year. Got enough entertainment in my life.
Get my news from other sources like the internet. -
TimberI am sure the current free access on line will come to a halt before long.

Benny The JetThis is a stupid question probably...but here's the scenario:
We downgraded to the Basic Cable Package (basically 3,5,8) and it's like 12$ a month. I have a HDTV with tuner built in...if I go out and buy an HDTV Antenna, will I be able to get those basic channels, in HD for free? Hence, being able to stop paying 12$/month to the cable company? -

Yes. Any network broadcasting over the airwaves that has an HD channel you will get in HD with an HDTV.Benny The Jet wrote: This is a stupid question probably...but here's the scenario:

McFly1955I pay $15 per month for basic cable (no box, no DVR, just the wire into the TV), and I pay $45 a month for internet....This is compared to my parents, my wife's parents, who all have the bundled packages for $130+ per month...
We get 20-30 channels (7 or so HD).
I'm building a basement theater now (done in 3-4 weeks), and I just bought a Centronics 502HD tuner that will allow me to get cable to my 1080p projector (projectors don't have cable inputs, and receivers don't have tuners). I ran a test scan with the tuner last night and it found 40 channels......sweet.
We watch TV as our schedules allow, if we miss any shows we watch on the PS3 via Netflix, or a PLayOn media server (Hulu, and various plugins including HGTV, etc.).
92" screen + surround sound here I come. -
End of LineAT&T Uverse is actually pretty good (I have WOW!) but a friend of mine has it and I actually liked it.

Speaking of hulu, anyone find any problems with it? Every time I try to watch a program I missed during the week and I go to that site, my computer goes nuts. Shuts down on it's own, almost constant "hiccouphing" while trying to watch a show, freezing. Anyone know if they ever got a virus from there and if so, how do I check for one? My internet security hasn't picked up on anything out of the ordinary and I run a scan every night.

McFly1955^^^ You're question got mixed up inside of you quoting me....
I've not had any problems with hulu, they made some changes somewhat recently, but it still runs fine on my machines.
Maybe make sure you have the latest flash player?
