GSP - Anderson Silva

  • bigdaddy2003
So if this fight happens who does everyone pick to win?
  • Rotinaj
I'd be rooting for GSP but I think Silva would win.
  • End of Line
    GSP.
  • Fab1b
I favor Silva because of his length and will have a bit of size on GSP but I will be on the other hand rooting for GSP!!

I think Spider would win and I would be rooting for him to win. I love watching the dude fight generally. He let me down last night though.

It might depend on the weight.

If it's at middleweight, I definitely pick Silva. If it's at welterweight, I give GSP a 40% shot to win.
  • Heelz
I think Silva would win, guy is a badass and I can't stand GSP.
  • End of Line
I'd like to see them do a catchweight at around 178.

Ha I like your style man. Ravens fan who doesn't like GSP.
  • ksig489
Silva is just too big for him.
  • sportchampps
Silva hopefully by first round ko. It would be interesting to see if GSP ultra fast takedowns are quick enough to get to Silva.

GSP is my favorite fighter. Im also a big fan of Silva. Would love to see this fight!

this will be the fight of the year if it happens... Everyone is scared to push at Silva, and rightfully so. GSP just pushes forth like a tank... with his takedown ability Sillva will have to fight on his heals some... he's not use to that... Silva is bigger... tho GSP has beefed up to walk around at 190... with out doubt a fight of styles....

my prediction... this fight will happen sometime... who wins? depends on if its on the feet or the ground.. if GSP can get Silva to the ground he will win.. if not then Silva..

regardless your gonna see the 2 best pound for pound fighters go at it.. and i get chills thinking of this clash!!!
  • bigdaddy2003
I don't think GSP wins even if he can take him down. Silva isn't a beast on the ground but he's no slouch. He will be able to get up off the ground like few have against GSP.

Thereddragin, you are forgetting about Fedor in your best pound for pound fighters mention.
  • sportchampps
I think Silva is probably = to GSP on the ground with the extra weight.
  • hoops23
I think Silva would pretty much dominate GSP... I don't think GSP would be able to keep Silva on the ground and Silva would definitely land some good blows.

Too bad it may never happen.

i should have said the 2 best pound for pound in the UFC.. cause without doubt Fedor is right there too...

Damn it Dana get Fedor to come over already!!!

the size thing willl be what is the diffrence maker imo... skill set wise i'd say that GSP is a little bit better... athletically is a push... IMO what it would come down to is if GSP can hang with the bigger man and i think he can if he can get him to the ground... Silva would be against a master game planner... and tbh in recent fights has anyone actually had a game plan for Silva? rest assured GSP will/would!

this will be such an epic fight.. i love both fighters both are totally dominating right now

    My personal thoughts on P4P:
    1. GSP
    2. Fedor
    3. A. Silva (just because I put him at 3rd doesn't meant I think GSP woud win. I just believe the way GSP fights is more sound than Silva. Because of the length, size, similar skill set I give the edge to Silva if he fights GSP)
    4. Lesnar (shoot me if you want but because of his sheer strength and size along with a rapidly growing skill set it is going to be one hell of a task to beat Brock)
    5. BJ Penn (even though he just lost his skill set is still unmatched and I do want to see a rematch with Edgar, something didn't look right with Penn Sat. night, I'm not taking away from Frankie I'm just not sold)
    6. Lyoto Michida
    7. Gegard Mousasi (possibly the best 205 in the world outside the UFC)
    8. Jose Aldo
    9. Urijah Faber
    10. Shogun/Hendo
Also Mike Brown, Dominic Cruz, Aoki, Melendez, Carwin, Valasquez, Shields, Jon Jones are in the discussion as well.

is Faber ever going to come to UFC?
  • Fab1b
Faber to the UFC, I say no unless he wants to move up to 155.
  • hoops23
Jon "Bones" Jones is who I'd LOVE to see fight Anderson Silva.

IMO, Jon Jones is the next BIG thing. Dude is a BEAST. He's got a very unorthodox style of fighting and his elbows are deadly. He also doesn't back away from contact. Next to Rampage, he's my favorite fighter right now.

Faber won't jump to UFC, he doesn't cut weight as is to make 145.

As far as Silva/GSP here is my take.

Stand-up- The edge in stand up is a push. Many will disagree but this is why. Anderson Silva (especially after the Maia fight) has proved he will not push the action, he is a counter puncher. The Forrest fight is a prime example. Forrest pushed forward hard and got counter punched into 1999. GSP takes very few risks on his feet, and waits to shoot more often than not when his opponent punches, so it could be a boring stand up fight.

Ground-GSP has the advantage here. Silva may be a BJJ black belt, but GSP is a black belt blanket. He makes very few mistakes which would allow him to get submitted. Also we have seen that very good wrestlers can put Silva on his back....holding him there is the big question mark.

Weight class-If the fight happens at WW, GSP wins, its a large cut for Silva, and it could weaken him. Anything above it could be in favor of Silva.

I would love to see Bones vs Silva as well! I do agree Jones is the next big thing as well!
  • Zoltan
I would also love to see Bones vs Silva. Bone's reach causes problems for anyone, especially on the ground where he can connect with solid punches/elbows even in when he is in someones guard.
  • thereddragin
I too would like to see bones fight Silva... just not right now... he's a very promising fighter... and i'd like to see him get a few more "big" fights under his belt before he gets thrown to the champ...
