  So I decided to help my Brother-In-Law coach jr.high boys basketball, and so far the practices and everything has gone well, until last night we had the coaches/parent meeting. Well long story short we met a few of the parents who are more concerned with thier kids playing and winning then the kids learning fundementals and having fun. Don't get me wrong the goal is to win but not at the exspense of alienating kids from bball.
  I guess my question is how to handle things like this?
  
  Quote from one of the kids parents: "Sure you have 6-8 players who play but the other 6 or so are just throw aways".

  Just make sure you have everything laid out on paper, and I would have parents sign something.

  Deal with it. It only gets alot worse.
  
  In Jr High the parents are just tuning up for H.S. blow-ups.

  Jr. High is for fundamentals. At that age, you never know who migh mature physically into a good ball player. You don't wanna drive kids away from the game at that age. The high school I graduated from never put an emphasis on winning until the varsity level. They are easily the most successful team in the conference, and one of the better programs over the last 30 years in Southeastern Ohio.
