HTC Incredible(verizon wireless)
-
wes_mantoothI am currently with Tmobile, but my contract is up, so I am going to switch over to verizon. Tmobile pissed me off with their restrictions for the Nexus One(can't be on a family plan). Anyhow, I keep hearing rumors of the HTC Incredible which is supposed to be better than the Nexus One. Does anyone have any info on this phone?.....I clicked on some link that was supposed to have some specs, but it killed my computer with malware....lol

not gonna lie, I did get a chuckle out of this.Society wrote: LOL -
sherm03I've heard the phone is supposed to be absolutely sick. I have a manager at a kiosk I visit who said he got to see the Incredible and play around with it and was blown away by it.
That's some bad news for me...but I'm excited for what Motorola will be rolling out in response to it. -
bartsimpsonDon't get it yet....I worked in the cell phone business. If you snap up the initial version of any new model you're asking for trouble. Hold out for a month or two, let the intial ones with issues get sold to the suckers who feel like they need to be "first" to have the new stuff. By the time you get yours the bugs will be gone. HTC makes a very nice phone....I'm sure it will be fine....just don't get it the first day they're available.

I have thought about that as well....not to mention, there will probably be a price drop or some sort of deal.bartsimpson wrote: Don't get it yet....I worked in the cell phone business. sherm03While I agree that it's not always wise to jump on a phone the first day...I don't believe that is the case with Android phones. There are generally very few (if any) issues with Android phones when they hit the shelves, and the few issues are generally very minor and corrected within a few days via a download. It's not as big of a worry as it is when a manufacturer is using their own software and basically using the first few thousand customers as guinea pigs.

wes_mantoothsherm, did that rep you know have any idea what the phone is going to cost?
-
sherm03No.
But look at it this way. The Droid is the most popular phone at Verizon right now. If HTC wants to compete, they have to have it reasonably close to the Droid's price point. HTC has been known to do some crazy things with the price...and a phone like that could easily go for $250-$300 with a 2 year contract. However, I could see them putting it at $199.99 with the contract...just to really steal customers from the Droid. -

wes_mantoothI have my Incredible pre ordered and will be picking it up on Thursday. Now there is news that the Nexus One will not be coming to verizon at all.

I'll be getting this HTC phone from sprint... check the specs: http://www.pcworld.com/article/192286/sprints_htc_evo_4g_5_killer_features.html
Both look to be priced @ $199 -
wes_mantoothYeah, the EVO should be the top dog when it releases. I have been reading complaints about the Incredible....something about it isn't recognizing its own internal memory...hope this gets fixed.
-
imex99it should be fixed...if true... It looks like a beast and would be #1 on my list if I was Verizon(unless big red or sprint) get the iphone and it would be a no brainer.....
Unless Palm brings out a new phone with webOS! I've played with most of the phones and all of the OS and I would pick the next gen webOS over iphone, incredible & evo 4G. The palm pre/pre + is an amazing phone for it's specs and it's OS is AWESOME. Now Palm just needs new hardqare to compete and will be launching the pre+ on at&t in the coming weeks.... I wonder if palm just trying to get on the big 3 carriers and then will soon after announce the next Palm/webOS phone.... -
wes_mantooth^^^A good friend of mine just bought the Palm Pre. She doesn't like the keyboard, but other than that she loves it. The fact that you can use it as a hot spot/wifi device for a laptop is awesome.
-
imex99that and it's so customizable. I have my pre that palm clocks @500mhz clocked at 800mhz and so many patches it's crazy!!!
I have the EVDO symbol but signal bars showing 4G(I don't have 4G & it's not in ohio). It's just crazy how much www.precentral.net has hacked up and changed this phone.
every post that I've done in this thread has been from my pre. The keyboard isn't as bad as most think... It's basically same size as any treo or blakcberry. -
I Wear PantsThe Incredible is apparently incredible.

JawbreakerI will be taking my droid back on the 29th and getting the incredible.
Imex99, unless you put a wimax radio in your pre, it isn't running 4g. -

hoops23I'll be getting the HTC EVO from Sprint when my upgrade is available in December.. That is if nothing else better comes out by then..
That 4" screen is SICK. -

Fixed that for ya.LTrain23 wrote: I'll be getting the HTC EVO from Sprint when my upgrade is available in December.. That is if nothing else better comes out by then..
That 4.3" screen is SICK.
This should be quite the phone battle this summer, with the Nexus One on T-Mobile, AT&T, and very shortly Sprint (Google has cancelled the Verizon Nexus One), the EVO on Sprint, Droid Incredible on Verizon, and the 4G iPhone. Not to mention we could see Palm put all their eggs in one basket for one last crack at blowing people out of the water with a new webOS phone. (They're gonna need it, if it flops, its bankruptcy city for Palm). -

Might have a bad @ss Palm phone with webOS coming out now.... I'm keeping an eye before upgrading bc I have Palm Pre now and if it wasn't for the hardware, I would stick with palm because webOS on my Pre is better than iphone, android & blackberry... Imo -
wes_mantoothI really like that Palm Pre, but I just wanted the bells and whistles of the Incredible. I have recommended the Palm to my cuz and my sis since it is so cheap right now through verizon.
-
imex99I agree, I would recommend the phone to anyone.... The operating system(webOS) rocks and the Pre is a solid phone. I can't wait for an upgraded phone with webOS on it though.

gport_tennisPlayed with the incredible today at work. All I can say is wow. Phone is amazing
