    Nice overall update.

Update: Here's a big "lose some" -- only the iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 3G will support multitasking. The iPhone 3G and below won't -- Steve says the hardware doesn't support it. Sad face.
I'm calling BS on this! Can't the jail broken 3G phones multi-task?

    Summary of features:

    *Multitasking.
*Spell check (like on the iPad).
*Bluetooth keyboard support (again, on the iPad).
    *User-defined wallpaper (a jailbreak favorite).
*Tap to focus when recording video, just like with photos, and a 5x digital zoom for the camera.
    *Playlist creation and nested playlists.
*App folders for sorting apps! You can even put an app folder in the dock.
*Enhanced Mail! You can have a merged inbox view, switch between inboxes quickly, and sync to more than one Exchange account. There's also threaded messaging (at last!) and in-app attachment viewing.
*iBooks, just like on iPad, only smaller. You can wirelessly sync books between platforms, a la Kindle.
*Enterprise features, including remote device management and wireless app distribution.
*Game Center. It's like Xbox Live, but for iPhone games. Includes achievements, leaderboards, and match making. It will be available as a "developer preview," and out for consumers later this year.

It took them like 3 years to add copy and paste, so I'm hardy surprised.

So only the 3GS will multitask?

Now I'm even more pleased with my decision to spend the extra $$$ to get the iPhone 3GS.

    Weak sauce.

Folders thing is the only excitement I got from this.

I was pitching a major tent for multitasking until the end when it was announced it was only for 3GS. My two years is up this summer anyway, though, so hopefully they will release some new hardware around that same time.

If it ever makes it to Verizon, I'll contemplate switching.

I love my BB Tour though. It will be hard for me to get away from it even if Apple makes it to Verizon.

They have the ability to make the best phone in the world but unfortunately, they got stuck with a shitty provider.

That phone has all the potential in the world, when Apple decides to use that potential, it'll be game over for most phone makers except BlackBerry.

How so? Apple makes a nice phone (even if they lock down everything) but it isn't for everyone. I for one like the iphone but would never purchase it for myself or anyone at my company.

Even if Apple released a phone on VZW's network, HTC as well as other phone manufacturers will be around. Google has way too much invested into their phone platform to let Apple take all the market share. Plus the fact people love cheap phones and the cost of an android phone is much lower than an Apple product.

HTC right now is sitting at the #1 phone sales. Apple has a great phone but lags a bit behind in the technology aspects of the phone.

That new HTC phone that's coming to Sprint with the 4" screen is most likely my new phone this year.
