Bizzy and Krayzie both better than Em.
  • Trueblue23
Zwick I love Bone Thugs as much as the next guy, but it's pretty obvious that Eminem is a Top 5 rapper of all-time

I love Em as much as the next guy... but he gets a free pass on too much terrible shit just b/c he's the only good white rapper. Bizzy and Krayzie were pioneers of their style.. Eminem is only a pioneer of being a good white rapper.

Eminem is not top 5. And dont gimme the CD sales. Hes top 10 when he wants to actually rap...and like top 1000 when he does that stupid change his voice shit and acts like an idiot, like in some of his songs

The Beastie Boys were the pioneers for being good white rappers.

I suppose you're right. I was never into Beastie boys though.

I agree with killer_ewok. If anyone was a pioneer for white rappers, it was the Beastie Boys.
  • Hb31187
Haha the beastie boys were nice

Em is not the GOAT and not top 5.

I agree with hb, that he's top 10 when he actually tries.. Too often though, he's still rapping about his coke whore mom and ex. Not to mention his dumb voice changes within his raps.

I've always said that Em does his BEST work on other peoples stuff. This thread proves it. Eminem on Renegade was SICK, just as it was on Drop the world.

Lil Wayne is the GOAT for having this lyric before the scandal even surfaced:

"Walk around like im thirty feet tall
Tiger Woods all these hoes tryna birdy these balls"

I do greatly appreciate that. I remember hearing that track again, Post-scandal, and getting a fantastic laugh.

IMO, Eminem isn't in my top 5, and is probably not in my top 10...of ALL TIME? I mean, for me, he just doesn't have a body of work that would suggest him being in my personal top 5. Not to mention, although it's been mentioned, he's violently inconsistent. Not even from one album to the next, but from one song to the next....you never know which Eminem you're going to get.

It's fine if he's not in your top 5 skill wise, but to say he doesn't have a top 5 body of work is ridiculous. What 5 rappers would you place ahead of him body of work wise?

    Alright:

    Rakim.

    Jay-Z

    Nas

    Notorious Big

Masta Ace (not in my top 5, but again...we're talking solely body of work)

I'll only give those 5, but if you'd like, I can give more.

LOL, I was literally listening to the song and that part of the song came on about 10 seconds after I first heard about Tiger. I laughed my ass off.

Ummm, no. How old are you? Serious question? I remember when Biggie first came out. It was incredible and no rapper, IMO, has matched him.

Big L has to be considered. He was an amazing lyricist.

Eminem is in my top 20 for sure, maybe Relapse 2 can bring him up on my list a little more. It's so hard to make a top 5 or top 10 though because you have to consider Scarface, Kool G Rap, Biggie, Pac, Pun, Rakim, Nas, Cube, Jay, ect. I think my number one is Nas though because I listen to at least one song from Illmatic daily.
