Just thought this thread and the one linked in my original post are similar topics.

Maybe the repercussions for Bryant were handled on the practice field?

The taunting call by Bryant for instance...he did the same BS last year w/o repercussions. I gotta believe Urbie is fed up with the inmates running the asylum, but Luke seems to let it go.
LOL...Urban is the head coach, if he wanted the BS stopped, he would stop it.

Maybe he can only get a ride to the library every other day.

Not to mention everyone jumps on fickell complaining that they dont run man coverage, but that is Urbans philosophy to run a soft zone to create turnovers. He says it all the tume that he hates defensive players having their backs to the ball.

LJ - do you think the Safeties are not as talented as in years past and this is what is resulting in the number of big gainers by opponents?

I'm not answering for LJ, but IMO it's the LB's that are the weak link in our D. They're not bad, they're just not as good as in recent years.
  • Tiernan
I concur the LBs are struggling Vball but its ultimately the Safeties who have to stop those break aways. I can't recall so many long gainers against the Buckeyes ever.

^^^agreed, and for whatever reason, our tackling seems worse than ever too...or maybe it just seems that way.

It is. It looks like wrapping up is a lost form, since just about everyone on the defense subscribes to the "drill guy with shoulder; hope he doesn't shake it off and gain 20-80 more yards" philosophy.

Yes. As I was watching the Michigan/Notre Dame game I thought to myself "so this is what tackling looks like."

Watching the communication and dynamics along the sidelines it is apparent there is tension and strain between Urbie and Fickell. First off...who in the Hell named Partly Cloudy Klein a starter this week? My bet it wasn't Urbie.

This site is full of football coaching experts, so this question should be an easy one...which player on Defense should be your bonafide badass that pretty much terrorizes the offense and usually leads the stats in tacckles? If you answerd anything other than MLB you're an idiot. Klein's name was never mentioned once in the stadium but somehow the paper the next day gave him credit for one solo and one assist. His Dad must be the sports editor because I was there Sat and this MAC school 2nd teamer never participated in a single tackle while he was in.

Luke should be recognized for what he did last year but his lack of cohesion with Urbie is going to cost us and it might start this week.
Could be a wrestling thing!!! Storm was a better than average wrestler also. Fickel was a monster on the mat. I'd still love to see anybody get on the mat with Luke. But both know how to play football.

I think you have to use too many acronyms to make a coherent point. just another wannabe ohio state fan. go away, seriously.

In fact, go home and jerk off to your John Cooper posters or whatever the fuck it is about OSU football you seem to like.

Who the fuck is going to start over Klein? Nobody, because the other linebackers who are more talented than he are already on the field, you god damn ignorant fuck.

Realistically anyone could start over Klein. A mailbox has more lateral range. Anyone could be in and not make tackles.

Partly Cloudy Klein had 1 solo and 2 assts officially. Now I watched that whole F'n game and never saw the one solo and if piling on is now called an assist then he had about 5 of those. He's worthless as a B1G MLB and obviously Tcarrierofmyjock32 you know absolutely nothing about football.

Klein has played in 1 less game than Grant and has the same number of total tackles and 1 more solo tackle than Grant. Both are bad though. Really bad.

except Curtis Grant is a sophomore and has some upside down the road if he gets some playing experience. PCK is a Senior and there is only more downside with this guy.

Except that Grant is THAT bad. You harp on Klein, then want to bring up upside when the guy can't even outperform Klein in 1 extra game. Most likely one of the current freshman will take over the MLB spot next year and I wouldn't be surprised to see Grant transfer out.
This staff has said over and over that they play the guys who earn it, not on potential or "upside". Obviously Grant can't earn any time over Klein. That's worrisome.

I can see your point but the stat thing is questionable at best...Did you see Klein make a solo tackle yesterday?

Seriously if anyone did I'll say I'm wrong. But this is the second week in a row that he's been credited with a solo tackle and I still swear I've watched both complete games and never saw PCK make a solo tackle. I saw him kinda do some mop up on RBs already in the grasp of somebody else but thats not anywhere near being a "solo" tackle.

I don't watch games to keep track of individual stats

Neither do I but when Speilman, Marek, Laurenitis...etc...etc played, you didn't have to question how may solos they made because their names were being called all the time. If you are playing MLB in a major college football game nobody should be questioning whether or not you had at least ONE solo tackle.

jesus, you give out nicknames like a 10 year old. you obviously don't know the definition of obviously. klein may be worthless, but there are no legit claims to replace him.
