Fantasy Baseball 2015

  • Dr. KnOiTaLL
Hey guys, figured I'd get this started as most sites will open up for registration in the next couple weeks. Feel free to use this thread for keeper questions, draft strategy, player preferences, or other topics relating to fantasy baseball.

I'm in a very deep keeper league, and here's what my keepers are going to look like (and the round they will be slotted in):
    Carlos Gomez (5th)
    Jason Kipnis (9th)
    Nolan Arenado (15th)
    Corey Dickerson (16th)
    Carlos Carrasco (17th)
    Cliff Lee (18th)
    Javier Baez (19th)
    Matt Harvey (20th).

My keeper league is different in that you keep 8 but must drop at least 1 each of your 1-4 scorers and 5-8 so you can keep at most 6 of your top scorers. But no draft round slots, the draft starts in the 9th round.

The pool of 10 candidates I'm thinking about:

    V-Mart
    Corey Dickerson
    Joc Pederson
    Bryce Harper
    George Springer
    Salvador Perez
    Corey Kluber
    Yu Darvish
    Stephen Strasburg
    Ian Kinsler

You really target those prospects, don't you? We actually can keep a 9th player, as long as they're a prospect and have the "NA" status beside their name. I'm contemplating keeping Jon Gray if he starts the season in the minors.

Well I absolutely dominated my league through pitching and the players I didn't list who aren't keepers (Matt Adams, Jake Arrieta, etc.)

Once I figured out my playoff lineup I dropped 2 bench players to add Pederson and Baez (who I didn't even list who I could also keep)

And to be honest with you, I think it was just a weird year for grabbing guys like Pederson, Baez, Gallo, and Bryant.

Those guys are almost universally regarded as can't miss and should all be getting tons of reps next year. That definitely doesn't happen every season.

Trying to trade Yu Darvish (who I wouldn't keep because he'd be slotted as a first rounder...) for Anthony Rizzo, who I could keep for 3 years as a 15th rounder. Seems like a no brainer to me!
  • lhslep134
That would be a trade rape lol
  • Dr. KnOiTaLL
Ok, with my keepers looking like this: Carlos Gomez, Jason Kipnis, Nolan Arenado, Anthony Rizzo, Corey Dickerson, Carlos Carrasco, Cliff Lee, and Matt Harvey...
Which combination of two players would you prefer? Pick one from each group.

Group A: McCutcheon, Cabrera, Adam Jones, Clayton Kershaw, Felix Hernandez

Group B: Cano, Ellsbury, Tulowitzki, Upton, Harper, Pence, Carlos Gonzalez, Sale, Strasburg, Wainwright
  • Sonofanump
    Group A: Clayton Kershaw

    Group B: Strasburg

Down to my last keeper between:

    Matt Wieters
    Chris Tillman
    Ian Kennedy
    Tyson Ross
    Hector Rondon
    Zach Britton

We don't count ERA. Only W, Sv, IP, K as a basis of points.

    I'd say Tyson Ross.

I traded Kinsler and Dickerson for Altuve and Longoria so now my keepers are for sure Altuve, Longo, Kluber, Darvish, Springer, Harper, Strasburg, and Perez.

Used my surplus of outfielders to upgrade at 2nd and snag a 3B so I don't have to worry about a weak position (weak in the sense all of the top 5 guys will be kept).

That's what I was going to say too

Anyone have any openings in any leagues?

My friends have decided to discontinue our yearly league as it became too much for them to keep up with everyday.

Hold tight it's possible/probable someone drops from our league. $40 buy in, 8 person keeper

The draft is a set order so when I joined last year I took over the 4th worst team and had the 4th pick every round. PM me if you want me to throw your hat in the ring if someone drops.

8 person league, keeper. Or you keep 8 people a year.

    Either way, let me know.
  • Laley23
And, if no one drops out, but you find another, I am willing to take my lumps in year 1/2 to get in, knowing my team will suck in comparison off the bat.

Your hitting and pitching staff are stellar. SS and catcher leave something to be desired, but all in all looks like an excellent squad!

    I like Springer a lot. I think he's a lot like Cespedes
