Week 4 recap, Lookahead to week 5
-
Dr. KnOiTaLLI continue to have awful luck as I move to 0-4. I caught the team that had Peyton on bye this week, and he just so happened to pick up Eli as his bye week filler. Not only that, but opposing defenses have averaged 17 ppg against me in the first 4 weeks (they start with 20), and kickers are averaging 11 points against me. It's simply unbelievable the bad luck that I have endured.
Time to blow up my team, I think. Lacy, VJax, and Alshon are killing me. I've got a trade out there for Demaryius hoping his owner is as frustrated as I am. Time to make something happen. -
IliketurtlesI will move to 2-2 on the year and if everything else pans out like I think it will everyone in my division will also move to 2-2.
I'm hoping Brady will get it going if not I'm going to pick someone up or try and make a trade. I also really need to upgrade at WR... VJax has been killing me. I do have Forte and Murray at RB so that's been great. -
jmogI will move to 2-2 (win this week), just had some bad luck. Even with Peterson being out, and AJ Green basically being out 2 of the 4 weeks (got injured on first drive 1 week and bye this week) I will finish this week either 2nd or 3rd in total points (currently 3rd, can move to second depending on how my 2 guys tonight do).
Total points is more important in our league than head to head as the playoff champion only gets like 16% of the league pot but the team that finishes 1st in points gets like 36% (2nd and 3rd in points get 20% and 12% respectively). The rest of the pot is distributed to owners of position and league MVPs (2% each).
So, the goal every year is to finish in the top 3 in total points, it is just gravy and bragging rights to win the championship (probably top 3 in points as well if you make it that far). -
justincredible0-4 and 2-2 (assuming Edelman scores more than 3). I've had a little bad luck on my 2-2 team, it will be fine in the long run. I have Bennett and Thomas at TE so I may try to flip Bennett for some RB help now that Thomas has had his BYE week.
My 0-4 team is horseshit. I am terrible at auction drafts. -
GOONx191-3 now. I had more bye players than bench spots last week. I pay attention to bye weeks during the draft, but have completely forgotten when picking up FAs.
-
SportsAndLadyVereen outscores Ridley, I'm 4-0. If not, vice versa
-
justincredibleWell, I assumed I was going to go 0-4. I was down by 32 with Charles to play, my opponent was done for the week. I'm only 7 points away from pulling off the upset.
-
Laley23I needed Charles to get about 40 to pull off 2 crazy comebacks. I am close. Need another TD or a long as screen or something.
that or NE too score quick again so Charles stays in the game. -
Dr. KnOiTaLLSo now that I'm 0-4, I've been feeling a bit desperate. I made a trade that sucks long term, but might give me a shot to at least make the playoffs and continue my streak of never missing the playoffs in my 7 year tenure in the league.
My roster currently:
QB: Ryan
RB: L Bell, Lacy
WR: Jeffery, VJackson, Randle
TE: Gates
K/D/IDP: Who cares, they're good enough.
BN: Josh Gordon, Gerhart, Ingram
I just accepted a trade where I deal Lacy, Gordon, and D'Qwell Jackson (IDP) in exchange for Keenan Allen, Ben Tate, and Isaiah Crowell. My hope is that I could then turn around and package 2 WR's for a major upgrade, like AJ Green.
Thoughts? -
SportsAndLady^eek lol

Dr. KnOiTaLL
I know. Traditionally, I'd never make a trade when there's so much playoff potential, but I may not make it that far to use them. Had to pull the trigger. It's NOT a ppr league, and at this point, Tate could come close to matching the production I was getting with Lacy, while also buying low on Allen. Not an ideal situation, but it's the hand I've been dealt.SportsAndLady;1658856 wrote:^eek lol -
TBone14Choose 1: Asiata, Bradshaw, Vereen. Can choose two but that would bump Percy Harvin out of the flex and I don't want to do that. Asiata seems like a no brainer but you just feel like he has a clunker coming.
-
Laley23Vereen sucks this year. Go with Asiata and Bradshaw.
-
TBone14
Vereen has been disappointing. But I can only choose 1. So....Asiata or Bradshaw?Laley23;1659058 wrote:Vereen sucks this year. Go with Asiata and Bradshaw.
I feel like it's a coin flip. I just want a solid effort for about 15 PPR points. I'm worried if the Packers get up all over the Vikings, there will be no running game. Bradshaw has been very consistent. Everybody loves McKinnon but Asiata has scored fantasy points when given the chance but it isn't flashy. -
justincredible
Edelman scored 2. I'm 3-1 in that league. Time to flip a TE for RB help.justincredible;1658744 wrote:0-4 and 2-2 (assuming Edelman scores more than 3). Laley23Id go Bradshaw. He is the preferred receiving back of Andrew Luck, and their GL package is basically 85% geared towards RB/TEs in the passing game. They dont really throw it to Wayne or Hilton inside the 10 yard line...They throw it to the TEs and Bradshaw.

wildcats201-3 here. Really disappointing week for me, as my opponent had 3 players(2 players and her defense) on byes/injured and didn't sub them out. It's a couples league and obviously she didn't get help from her hubby haha.
Really sick of Megatron getting shit for points. Got me 28 the first week and not even 20 the past 3 weeks combined. Obviously 28 is not gonna happen every week, but he's killing me. Same with Carolina's defense, -4 points this week. And I picked up Steve Smith, Sr. after his crazy week 1 performance. Decided to bench him this week thinking he was going against Carolina, I didn't want to hurt myself. Well complete backfire. Smith scored 26 while sitting on my bench.
I have Peyton and Romo. Romo was fine as a sub during the Broncos' bye week, going back to Peyton this week though.
First time I have ever played fantasy, so I'm still learning the ins and outs.
My roster(supposed to have a flex player, but the commish screwed up)
Peyton, Romo
LeVeon Bell, Spiller, Bradshaw(thinking about dropping him), Sproles
Megatron, Andre Johnson, Edelman, Boldin(waiting for Terrance Williams to clear waivers and Boldin is gone), Smith, Sr.
Witten
Carolina, Pittsburgh
Vinatieri
Probably going with Smith instead of Edelman this week. Hard to bench Megatron, so I'll play him again. Andre Johnson SHOULD have a decent day against Dallas. Stuck between Bradshaw and Spiller. -
SportsAndLady^i know you said the league is new and so are you, but damn that league sounds like it fucking sucks lol someone played MULTIPLE players on bye? Commish fucked up and didn't add a flex spot??! Couples league?!
Also, in fantasy you gotta live and die with your players man. Can't bench someone like Steve smith because of matchups. Just gotta ride em out. Same with megatron although you are experiencing it for sure lol he'll be alright just keep plugging him in. You didn't do anything wrong by drafting him, fantasy is a lot about luck because you need your top picks to perform at a high fantasy level. Like Lacy- he's a top RB but he's sucking. That's just unlucky. That's fantasy. -
wildcats20It's 100% for fun. The women really don't know what they are doing at all. I basically make my g/f's roster each week for her.
It's nothing special that's for sure lol. But it's mainly just to get the ladies more involved in us watching football hah
Oh and it was an auto draft. I got pretty lucky with it. -
hangonsloopyI've been offered Charles, Knile Davis, and Colston for Gio, Hyde, and Michael Floyd. Thoughts? 12 team ppr.
-
Laley23
Yes. Id do it.hangonsloopy;1659111 wrote:I've been offered Charles, Knile Davis, and Colston for Gio, Hyde, and Michael Floyd. Thoughts? 12 team ppr.
Before the season, you wouldve taken it. Charles is a monster when hes healthy. Hyde isnt gonna be much till Gore is gone. I love Floyd and Gio, but not more than getting, BY FAR, the best player in the deal. -
SportsAndLadyI wouldn't trade gio. Gonna be the top RB in fantasy this year imo.
-
jmogWell, I had a great week, but now that AJ Green and Floyd are off bye I need to pick 1 of my #2 type WRs to play (only start 2 WRs and AJ Green is obviously starting).
Here's my 3:
DeAndre Hopkins @ DAL
Keenan Allen vs NYJ
Michael Floyd @ DEN
Not a bad problem to have, just not sure who to go with. I am leaning towards Hopkins or Floyd because I think they would be both in shoot outs, Floyd might be a no-go if Palmer is still out leaving me with Hopkins.
Allen is rated higher than these 2 but hasn't had but 1 good game so far (this past week). -
IliketurtlesI'd go with Keenan Allen. Jets secondary is terrible.
hangonsloopy.. I'd do that trade. Charles > Gio, Davis > Hyde, Colston < Floyd. You get the best player in the deal and his handcuff and you give away a RB who really won't do much this year. Floyd and Colston are close just Floyd is going to see more targets. -

This truly sounds awful. Just for fun? Women? You have to set her lineup? People start players on byes? Wow. What is the point? People couldn't pony up a $50 to make it somewhat interesting? People would at least set their lineup then.
Related. I got my wife into a $50 league with some other people we know. Second year. She is enjoying it. I am hands off, though. Maybe a start/sit piece of advice if she asks but nothing else. It does make it a bit easier to convince her to sit around from 1 to midnight on Sunday and watch football.
