July 1st means Fantasy Football

Or it's at least okay to start talking about it.

    First question for the year:
Keep Ray Rice and lose my 1st round pick or Keep Alfred Morris and lose my last round pick.
  • Rotinaj
Is draft order random? How many people do you think will be keeping their first from last year? Leaning pretty hard towards Morris though.

Draft order is random and I will find that out probably a week before the draft(I have to customize it so I'm going to set it up early enough to give me time to get things set up). I know of a few that will keep their first. I'm also trying to trade Rice. If I can trade Rice for a 3rd or 4th and like an 8th, I'm going to jump on it.

I say keep Rice. History says hes going to be top 5 RB. Morris COULD be top 5, but if RGIII isn't back Morris may have a down year.
  • ohiobucks1
Also what website do you use?

If I get a top 15 RB in the LAST round of a draft, it creates depth for my team.

We're going to use ESPN for the season, but I'm setting up a NFL.com league to draft because they have the customized draft board.

This. Possible top 10 RB in the spot you'd draft a kicker.

ESPN fantasy site sucks ass IMO, I used NFL.com a few yrs back and it was laughably bad. Yahoo is my preferred site, I'll pretty much only play on that site. Flea Flicker also isn't bad from my one league on that site few yrs back.

ESPN hasn't caused me any issues. I hated NFL.com when I used it, but they allow for a customized draft board so I'm going to take advantage of that and then manually change everyone over to ESPN lol.

I'd go with Morris; doubt you're going to get anyone that good that late in the draft. And depending on your spot you could replace (or re-draft?) Rice.
  • Iliketurtles
    I'd go with Morris easily.

Also I'm with CoA... I love Yahoo for FF. Although I have played on Fleaflicker the past 2 years and it's been pretty decent.

Morris for sure in that scenario.

This is my situation. I am have been on the waiting list to get into this league for years and I am finally in. It is a partial auction/partial snake draft.

You get 100 'dollars' for the auction and you have to fill 10 spots in the auction. After 120 players/10 rounds are auctioned...there is a snake draft to finish.

You can franchise up to 2 players per year for only one year. So after they are kept for a year they go back into the pool.

    My options are:

Brady for 31- Not going to
Kaepernick for 10- Going to do this.

My other option is keeping David Wilson for 10 bucks. RBs seem to be pretty slim after the top group. A starting running back for 10 in this format is good. Guys like Foster/Peterson will go for 40ish.

    I've won my league 4 out of 7 years ( ;) )

But this year is the first year we are going to a keeper league. I am commish so I ahve some questions for anyone who is experienced in it. Is it best to put a year limit on players? We already decided in having to give up a draft round earlier than you took the player and nobody in the first 2 rounds can be kept. Should the draft round go up a year every subsequent year you keep someone? Any other tips. At this time we are only doing 1 keeper per team. Thanks

David Wilson for $10 isn't awful. What are the other options though.

I'm not a fan of year limits. With the way you're doing it though, having the round go up every year and then when it's the 1st round, it's the last year they can keep them.

We have always done a keeper league. We allow a team to keep 3 years worth of experience. So the first year you get to keep three players. The next year, if you want to keep any of the players you kept the year prior, it counts as two.

    I.E.

    2005 Draft you get:
    Player A, B, C
    2006, you keep A, B, C
2007, you can keep three guys drafted in 2006 or Player A and one player drafted in 2006.
2008, you can keep Player A only at three years or three players drafted in 2007.
2009, Player A is back in the draft and you keep three players drafted in 2008.

    Allows for keepers and turnover.

    That's a really good idea.

Do you have a round limit for which keeps can be picked from?

Our snake draft keeper rule is the same round you drafted the guy...for one year only. Keeps everybody in the draft pool every other year at least. You get a good mix of people keeping late round guys and people keeping early round guys. Guys picked up off waivers can be kept for an 11th round pick.

Hernandez for 12 would have been good but not much after that.

    Quizz Rodgers for 10.
    Hillman for 10.
    D. Richardson for 10.
    K Britt for 10
    Stevie Johnson for 10.
    Dwayne Bowe for 10.
    Antonio Brown for 10.

No, you get turnover and a good balance between teams keeping 1, 2, or 3 players.

We also have a set draft order based upon previous years standings: the 5th place team (first out of playoffs) picks first, 6th picks 2nd,...12th picks 8th, 4th picks 9th,...1st picks 12th. It keeps incentives to keep winning all year if you will be out of the playoffs.

Cbssports is the best ff site out there, of course you pay for it.

I would keep Morris because that has more value.
