Draft strategies

Your strategies? Our draft is early-ish this year (August 17 to accomodate out-of-towners) so I'm starting to think about who's going where. So, to recap, my very long draft strategy this year can be boiled down this way:
1. Get an elite quarterback. Ideally Vick but definitely one of the top seven.
2. Get an elite tight end. Ideally Gates, but definitely one of the top five.
3. Your roster should have just one kicker, one defense, one elite tight end, one quarterback (unless you feel like you need Vick insurance, in which case you can grab a nice arm late) and the rest need to be nothing but wide receivers and running backs. We know players will pop, we know they'll likely be running backs and wide receivers, we just don't know who they'll be, so the idea is to maximize your chances at getting one of those players. Panning for gold, as it were.
4. Your first four picks should include one quarterback, one running back, one wide receiver and either Gates or another wide receiver or running back.
5. Your next 10 picks will be the best available running backs and wide receivers, with the only exception being one of the other four elite tight ends in the fifth or sixth round if you don't get Gates.
6. You will end with a defense and kicker. -
ohiobucks1I wish there was more strategy talk for 2 QB leagues

IliketurtlesNot a bad strategy though I don't agree with Vick he is like the 7th QB for me. I am also not a fan not pickup a backup QB or a TE at all.
I have the 6th pick in my league and Im debating who to pick just because the league is not a normal style league and is very different. -
Laley23How is Vick the 7th best QB? How is he not #1 for everyone? Unless of course you are planning on an injury.

Why? 2 QB leagues are gay. -

It's just my opinion realistically I'd put him at 3(Behind Rodgers and Brees). I've just never been a big fan of Vick and no I wasn't planning on injury but it very well could happen. If you wondered here are the guys I would take before Vick: Rodgers, Brees, Rivers, Romo, Manning, Brady. -

Thats fine. But if Vick is healthy, he is the #1 QB. Hell, he scores like a RB and a QB combined! -

My thing is I just don't think hes going to be that great as a QB this year obviously his rushing will still be crazy good. It just seemed to me that towards the end of last years teams were doing a lot better job defensively on him. -

Thats fair enough. I just like the fact he has the best offensive weapons (as a whole) around him. Maclin, Avant, Jackson, etc at WR. McCoy at RB (who scores half his TDs from passes). Plus his rushing. I see no reason he wont be far and away the #1 scorer if healthy.
