Looking for another vBookie. Anyone interested?
-
justincrediblevBookie has died lately and we'd like to bring it back. Is anyone interested in serving as a vBookie? If so, respond here or send me a PM.
-
j_crazyIll do it, but work will come first. If there are others that can do it more regularly I'd go with them over me justin.
-
thavoiceI would love to do it but no way could I sustain such the high standards that the previous administrator had for it.
-
karen lotzI'll start back up if you'd like. If there is interest for bets even better. For the most part, it was people requesting events like nascar, golf, wrestling, and ufc and then no one betting on them. Perhaps football will increase interest.

Gardens35Can I get the wagers settled from MLB on July 15 and July 17?

That would be great. I'm guessing football will help. We'll also try to plug it a little more.karen lotz;1261245 wrote:I'll start back up if you'd like. If there is interest for bets even better. I actually have a theory about this but my idea keeps being shot down. I propose that limiting vbookie events to important games will help to decrease the overwhelming choices and maybe get people involved. Basically my theory is that if a game doesn't get or desrve it's own independent thread in its forum then it shouldn't be an event. For example all OSU, UM and ND football threads would be appropriate for vbookie events. Likewise big time games like Oklahoma/Texas or other important rivalries would warrant it as well. Post season games for most sports would be more likely be included but maybe not. For NBA maybe do it by an entire series, not each game. NFL Browns, Bengals, Steelers would all get their games. NFL post-season each game might warrant. NBA regular season probably not every game but only marquee ones like Lakers/Celtics, Heat/Bulls etc.karen lotz;1261245 wrote:I'll start back up if you'd like. College basketball would be along the lines of only marquee match ups like I suggested with NBA. And probably any conference game for OSU, UM, ND would probably work.
And then apply the same standards to baseball, hockey, etc.
The point of the general rule of thumb of a game or sporting even having to justify a thread is basically just a way to measure people's interest. If people aren't interested in the game, they probably won't bet on it. This isn't real money so the only reason to bet is for entertainment associated with the game already. Also, with the thread/vbookie correlating we can plug the vbookie link in the top of each thread and help to direct traffic to the vbookie thread for more involvement. -

lol! I'll admit the wrestling vBookie was a fail. Thank you (again) for all the work that went into listing each weight class.
Considering maybe only a half dozen people in the OC would bet on a XC race if it was in vBookie, I'd only list the D1 NCAA championships race.

Curly JI'll nominate Gardens as long as there is more than Bobby Labonte as a choice in the NASCAR threads and a daily choice of gas prices in Westerville.

karen lotzJustin while we are firing vbookie back up, can you delete some events/threads from last year when you had to reset the database or whatever happened? If you click on the vbookie button at the top then view the "closed" threads, there are about 15 from 2011 that can't be settled or cleared off that page.
