World Cup - USA v Ghana

  • karen lotz
The US takes on Ghana in a second round World Cup match. Who ya got?

Note: For wagering purposes, the game will be 90 minutes plus injury time. Penalty shoot outs do not count.

ALSO PLEASE NOTE THAT EXTRA TIME (OT) WILL NOT BE INCLUDED. The result will be taken at the end of the first 90 minutes plus injury time only. Sorry if there was any confusion.

    Is this legit?

Knockout rounds can not end in a draw.

What about the overtime periods? I'm assuming you don't count those either.

$$ is on the US baby

For the purposes of the bet, I think by saying the PK and OT will not count. So if they are tied after regulation, its a draw.
  • Fab1b
I don't think draw should be an option, just a flat out win or loss due to extra time and PK's now

    agree

I also don't think it should end in a draw.

I put a few on the US...but I really don't feel good knowing that it's just based on 90 minutes plus stoppage. I would agree with those that said Draw shouldn't be an option and it's just who wins.

This. I got the odds off of a online betting site and it had the draw in there as I described in the first post. And I need to add that the Extra Time will not count but injury time will.

Totally putting 50 down on a draw. I see a 1-1 type of game, probably with the U.S. scoring in the 2nd half to send it to extra time.

In the record books a match that goes to PKs is technically a draw. There have been World Cup teams to not lose a match (AND make it out of group stage) and not win the whole thing.

This may be a dumb question, but what's the difference between extra time and injury time?

Extra time is like overtime. A goal would end the match in extra time, and there can be up to two fifteen minute periods of extra time. Injury time is just an couple minutes added at the referee's discretion to the end of each half to account for the running clock. If a team scores in injury time, they just line up and keep playing; it doesn't end the game.

A goal in Extra time doesnt end the game either. It hasnt been sudden death since I think 1998. Extra time is played in its entirety.

Really? I didn't even realize. I thought for sure some of the '02 Cup games ended on Golden Goals.

    Just checked with Wiki:
In February 2004, the IFAB announced that after Euro 2004 in Portugal, both the golden goal and silver goal methods would be removed from the Laws of the Game. The 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany did not employ the golden goal in the event of a tied match during the knockout stage, but reverted to the previous rules: In the event of a tied game after the original 90 minutes, two 15-minute halves of extra time were played. Then, if a tie remained after the 30 minutes of extra time, the winner was decided by a penalty shootout.

Ah, what the hell. I'll put 100 on the U.S. to win. I hope they don't disappoint me.

Currently, the vCash is an average of 172 wagered for the US of A to win. Well over the other two choices.
