An open letter to conservatives...
-
CenterBHSFanBunk,
What do you want? You posted an article that is basically doing nothing than ripping on a certain ideology.
I am a conservative democrat. According to that link and to YOU, I should somehow feel bad about being conservative in my views.
Well... that will probably never happen, so.... what do you want?
Are there extremists in the republican party? Yep. Do I think the author is a little nutty? Yep. To the point that it literally brought Michael Pfleger (phleger?) in mind. I actually imagined the author(s) moaning in heavy mouth breathing while banging away at the keyboard, sweating with a vein bulging out of the middle of the forehead.
Whoever wrote the article comes off as extreme. There is so much animosity in every sentence that it gets comical about 4 sentences in. So what are you looking for? Praise? A solid handclapping episode? A cookie?
As for the republicans that it was also directed at, I could care less what that party decides to do with itself as my chosen party is more my concern. The whole "clean your own house before worrying about somebody elses" thing.
And the democrat party has trepanned itself.
So if you and others got some sort of satisfaction out of the article, good for you. If others don't, so what - you knew that going in, didn't you? -

And, I'd also like to know what or who constititutes as "us".First, the invitation: Come back to us.
Would it be just the author(s) opinion on what a conservative is?
Is there only one set of rules to being a conservative?
If so, who made or is making the rules?
Are conservatives allowed to hold staunchly to some ideals and be very lenient on others?
Or again, does this only pertain to the views of the writer? -
WriterbuckeyeI said it earlier: this crap only becomes newsworthy when the writer/speaker says things that meet with a liberal's view of what conservatives should be like.
None of it is rooted in reality. -

This is a message and discussion board, obvious I know.CenterBHSFan wrote: Bunk,

It is there for discussion, but what I have seen is attack not on the articles truths, but instead on the author and on the grammar or flat out denial.
What is a conservative?
Do you hold to the contradictory ideals in the article? If not then it is not speaking to you.
The one glaring truth from the reactions to this is the truth hurts. The article does hit home with the truth of MANY (not all) conservatives. -

Yeah all those articles about conservatives were all lies. Nothing about reality there.Writerbuckeye wrote: I said it earlier: this crap only becomes newsworthy when the writer/speaker says things that meet with a liberal's view of what conservatives should be like.

Complete denial is what you are suffering. -
WriterbuckeyeNot denial...perspective based in reality, and knowing that the world spins in favor of a liberal mentality.

ptown_trojans_1Apparently, I'm going to say the letter had an effect, but Frum has resigned his position at AEI as of today.
Interesting.

David Frum is just another one from the neoconservative ranks (and yes, he was as big of a neocon that there ever was) that just couldn't stand what his ideologic colleagues had become.ptown_trojans_1 wrote: Apparently, I'm going to say the letter had an effect, but Frum has resigned his position at AEI as of today.

You have shared your admiration for Chuck Hagel in the past. I share your sentiments regarding Hagel...another very conservative Republicaan, that has come to terns with the sheer hypocracy of the across the board conservative ideology.
Kudos to Mr. Frum for having thye balls in placing personal thought processing above pleasing the staus quo.
